    I think there should be farms that are accessible to the general public and not just towns people or members. Also I would like to suggest to raise the spawn rate of animals because finding food in the wild can be a challenge currently.

    is isn't always laziness, it can be lack of resources. I mean, seeds are easy enough, but if you don't hide your farm there is a chance it could be griefed. Since many players can't use water buckets, it can be difficult for newer players.

    You dont need water for a farm on here. Also, if you do insist on having water near your farm, you can either hire a Laborer (Through the /trade channel) or build out into a body of water (A 'floating farm'). I will point out that with a 'public farm', there are always people who simply take and dont put back, IE replant. The issue with animals, I suggest going to the mining world. The animals there seem to respawn quite quickly and in large numbers.

    Animals and mobs in main world dont spawn in 1500 blocks around capital.
    You can survive well even with zombie food, just study http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Rotten_Flesh
    But i agree there should be some possibility to buy food in mall.

    I like the idea of making town farms, because it can help you to take some food if you don't have at the moment or take some sseeds to start your own one

    This is one of the benefits of being in a town, why are you asking for these farms when you could just join a town? or use towns like bv, their farm is unprotected and as long as you replant then they are happy for you to use it.

    well, there is another problem. New players are the ones that need food most, and most towns won't let you join right out of the spawn :p

    You can join towns, you just won't stay in for long if you don't pay taxes, look at MRT's (mass recruiting towns) ALTINUM for instance has made like 90 recruits last month, so clearly they aren't picky.

    Some of you are suggesting to join a town or for me personally to build this but, what I'm trying to say is for new members or people who are trying out the server to be able to have food for themselves maybe to get there you could do /farm

    idea especially for towns close to capital border and portal entrances:

    - use part of claimed plot
    - rake land on the edge of plot where wilderness begins.
    - plant melon seeds inside claimed plot
    - let melons grow outside into unprotected area
    - cover melon seeds by some slabs preventing someone accidentaly walking over stems
    - let everyone harvest as much as he can

    Search for "Public farm" in suggestions forum.

    Apart from the fact that NOTHING, stops you from making a farm yourself, or buy some. You can get a stack of bread for 10d, what else would a starter want to spend his first 150d (vote+ starter money) on?
