I didn't know that so I asked him to make sure and now I learnt how it related. My post wasn't fully negative since I would report something unrelated but first made sure just incase.

Did you know we can place blocks onto the bottom of the ones we are standing on , without flying when there is nothing but air underneath?

Classic example is SkyBlock, where you are on a floating island in the sky.

So let us pretend that we are standing on a dirt platform and we want to build underneath it, but it is way up in the sky and we can't FLY.

    This is a slide show I made to help those of you that have no idea how to do this;
    http://s1257.photobucket.com/user/Hallideadly/slideshow/Minecraft/Minecraft water method

    pic 1 ,2 - dirt platform
pic 3 - aiming to the side of a dirt block
    pic 4 - placing water
pic 5 - riding water down, (on the outer edge so I can breath) also using jump a lot to hover in place
pic 6 - placing a block under dirt platform
pic 7 - placing more blocks down then one to the side, where the next platform will begin
pic 8 - standing on the one block I put to the side and now I can make a platform around, remove the blocks leading up
pic 9 - take the water back if you want, I just leave it for an elevator

note; Not so usable here on ImDeity but none the less it is worthy enough of a DID YOU KNOW.

An efficient pool making technique. The blue wool is to show you where I placed water buckets. The water merges together across the entire span to form a completed pool.

This can be of any huge size you could think of, it is pretty cool watching the water turn into source blocks as it merges along.

    Happy building.

Did you know that doors with pictures and banners can look pretty sweet. Here is just one example of how a picture can give an extra border appearance to the banner, while making the door inaccessible by clicking on it. With just a banner on a door, the door can be manually opened by clicking on the bottom half of the door. I recommend having the door open if you are going to use a picture with them as you will not be able to manually open the door if a picture is covering it, thus you'll need a pressure plate, lever, button, so on...which decays the aesthetics unless planned for.

First of all, OPEN the doors; - because I am using pictures that completely cover the doors. I am working from the other side so this is the inside of your home or what have you that is going to be built.
This next one shows a banner covering a 2x1 picture which is covering an open door, and a picture covering another open door. The order in which to place the pic and the banner is banner before picture. I cannot place a banner onto the other door until I remove the picture. Keep in mind this whole time you will need to be holding SHIFT to place things, otherwise you will close the door.

Your target to click on is the edge of the door, click the top half to place the banner and the bottom half to place a picture. Pictures always come out wrong, not getting the picture you want, and in this instance we can left click the bottom half of the banner or door to get it back.

I chose the 2x1 pic as I really like the border it makes in contrast to the banner. One 2x2 is enough to cover both doors.

Remember that this is merely an example of a ton of ways to use banners and pictures. Doors was where my head was at when I decided to mention it to you all.

    Happy building.
*walk right through, close doors when inside and others would have to break the pictures to be able to open the door. If they know a door is behind.

Did you know when the block lag hits as we are tunnel mining, that we can die when the block lag replaces several of the blocks we just mined, as we have moved forward, and get suffocated?

Then, on the rare occasion, the blocks that get replaced do not actually become visible. Seriously, invisible block lag. Ha.

All is not lost, there is a way to make those invisible blocks visible again. Swinging your pick is no help. place a torch where you suspect an invisible block is, and up the walls of the mine as well. The invisible block will take the torch, (you do not get it back), and then become visible in place of the torch. You can now break that block, and continue to get the other invisible blocks this way.

    The following link is a slideshow to give you a picture of what I am saying here;

http://s1257.photobucket.com/user/Hallideadly/slideshow/Block lag - unfortunately these are not in order.

I feel better clearing them out so I do not get caught in them at a point when I have forgotten about them. Invisible suffocation is not kewl.
This is mostly occurring at pick eff 4 and 5

    Happy Mining

ps; right clicking an invisible block is supposed to make it appear - however it does not seem to work in this instance.

shiftplacement.jpg Most people probably know this, but for those that don't:

Holding Shift whilst placing an item allows you to place it on surfaces that you would otherwise interact with. This allows you to put torches on top of furnaces, or a carpet on a crafting table for example. I've used it in the above image to create makeshift work surfaces.

Edit: Looks like Hallideadly already posted about this, oh well.

Did you know you can make kitchen counters look like counters now? Just use the new polished stones minecraft recently added (granite and the white one work wonderfully for this)

Heres a simple way to set blocks in a step upward mode:

stand on the first block, hold shift and move to the edge you want to build as far as you need to go,
place a torch on the side, then move back onto the block,
place a block on top of the torch,
repeat till you have it as high as you like.

Make sure you have moved to the center of the block so you don't knock yourself off with the new block.

Did you know that auto pumpkin and melon farms can be easily made for a minor fee in Deity's main wold ? For the cost of; 1 piston, 1 redstone wire, 1 repeater, 1 redstone torch and the placement cost for a craftsman to put the items you can't place.

Starting with the left setup; The redstone repeater will transfer a redstone signal through a block, (this being a melon or pumpkin when it matures). The redstone wire is now powered by the repeater, (which is powered by the torch) If I placed a piston where the redstone wire is you would think that it would be powered by the repeater, This is not the case, the piston will not activate this way.

MAKE SURE THAT THE BLOCKS ADJACENT TO THE MELON/PUMPKIN STALKS ARE NOT DIRT! except the one in front of the piston, this forces the growth of your melon or pumpkin to in front of the piston.

The second setup on the right is a working auto farming machine, as compact as I could make. When the melon matures the redstone wire will be powered, which in turn will power the piston via the cobblestone block. The cobble can be any block that is solid and it is needed in order to make the redstone wire be able to power the piston. Basically, the redstone wire powers the solid block which then sends a signal to an adjacent block, this being our piston, which will now activate.

This is stackable, simply replace the redstone torch with a redstone wire on every second level up.

The major flaw with this setup is the retrieval of product. The best place for this is in FTB where one can get the use of vacuum hoppers. I played around with water to funnel the drops but the piston make a tremendous mess when breaking the melon/pumpkins that I could not capture a lot of the drops. It works very well otherwise. Closing the structure in did not help much.

One daylight sensor could be used to activate pistons at night and off during the day. This would change the setup slightly as you no longer need a continuous signal sent waiting for the mature melon/pumpkin. Buttons or levers, even pressure plates to activate the pistons is another simple way to go which helps in that you will be around to gather the product.

    Hope this helps.

Did you Know - going more into redstone,(RS), the following will explain some interaction with RS circuitry. There is far too much RS information to put into one post, so I will merely touch on some basics that might not be commonly known.

I will start with how to make a RS circuit go straight upwards, and then another to go straight down.

The upwards circuit is very easy, simply place a RS torch on a normal block, then place a block on top of the RS torch and another torch on that next block up, and continue this for as high as you need to go. You will notice that every second torch is not lit, this is normal. This can make a vertical RS circuit from bedrock to max y level in a one block space, pretty nice. Now you need to interrupt this circuit to create the desired effect. Although this circuit can be interrupted at any y level, I am using ground level for ease of explanation. Place a couple RS wire on the ground so that they form a line going into the bottom block, or a repeater aimed so that the current would go into the block on the ground. Now you need to power the circuit, which is whatever your heart desires for a trigger, again for ease of explanation I suggest a lever, so you can see the effect. Flick the lever and notice the RS torches alternate from off to on, and on to off. If built to your specifications, this will activate whatever it is you wanted at the top of the circuit.

The circuit going downward is a little more complicated to explain, and this takes up a 2 block space unlike the vertical upward circuit.

RS wire on the top of each block, and then a RS torch on the side directly above the next block below. each other block is 2 up and one over, alternating to keep the RS circuit connected.
When the RS wire is live, it makes the RS torch on the side go out, which puts out the RS wire below that torch, which turns on the RS torch on the side of the unlit wire, and so on all the way down. Again, this can go from max to min y levels. In this pic I have the circuit reversed, where the lever is off and the RS lamp is lit. one more or less steps in the circuit would fix that. all depends on what you are using the circuit for.
That will be if for this post. I might continue on with more RS circuit interactions at another time. such as how to make a RS torch power 2 spaces in front of it, instead of just one, or how a single piece of RS wire can send power around a corner.

Happy building, hope this is helpful. <3
