Sometimes restarts happen, out of our control. And even if in our control, how would we know how much time to give for an announcement for everyone to be happy? And what if you missed it anyway?
If you lost something, it was likely on the ground, how would a warning help that?
Even if he was in combat, there'd always be somebody in combat in PvP during a restart. Even with a warning, people would still fight up until the last second.
Not to mention, it was a crash. We can't warn against a crash, otherwise it wouldn't be crashing. And a rollback caused by a crash is because the world had no chance to save before then.
What happened was I had just killed someone, was on full health, and then the server reset and I lost diamond prot 3 helm, chest and legs, normal diamond boots, a sharpness 5 sword with kb 2 and fireaspect 2 on it and a power 5 fire 1 bow. Deity said that it was lost for ever
I understand now but at the time, little was explained. As we all sat there questioning what had happened we were never assured in to which exactly was going on. The incident didn't effect me personally but looking from an outsiders point of view, I saw deity having a chat in ot about pie (lol) which could have been taken in the wrong way by others.
Just a little tip (coming from an admin of another server) if this happens again, just tell mods to keep things calm and relaxed, all the while insuring players that a solution is being looked into, but not guaranteed. I know and understand all the things you guys do, all of which are silently appreciated.
