Sub Forums

On the Forum, there are three main categories:
- Kingdoms - Beta SMP
- OTHER
- Minecraft Classic


OTHER only has 2 sub forums:

- General Discussions
- Ban Appeals


Ban Appeals is the subforum with the most threads of any on the forum.
It is acting like an etc. categorie.
All topics which don't fit in any other category end up here.
Which in my view, makes it into a chaotic heap of unrelated topics.

so my suggestion:
Instead of General Discussions, have multiple sub forums:

- Introductions / Farewells
- Forum Games
- Art/Graphics/GFX
- Spam



Ofcourse, these 4 categories are just a suggestion,
Feel free to suggest other ones.
But looking at the current General Discussion,
these four categories are usually found on there.


Also, you can make posts in the Spam section not count as forum posts.
And clear the whole thing every week or so, to prevent flooding of the forum.

 

Sounds like a well tought-trough idea, but General discussions is fine enough to host everything general, if people want to show their Imdeity art they should also just beta general, as it's for all discussions about Imdeity beta.
From all the forums i've seen, the ones with several subforums just become more of a click fest to find the correct topic then actually helpfull.

My question: Why specialize when the subforums are already good enough?

 

For people to find what they are looking for more easily.
People who are into art, can just click on the 'art section'
instead of having to search through all the forum games to find their topics.
The same goes for forum games and introduction.

So this gives the opportunity to find all topics of interest, with one click,
instead of having to browse through all the titles, to find the topics of the category you want.

As explained above, i think, and this is what i usually experience, my sugested system would save you more time.
Since you dont have to click more.
You are thinking of first having to click general Discussion, and then your sub forum.
But i suggest: replace General Discussion with the 4 different Sub forums,

So that OTHERS, would look like this:

- Introductions / Farewells
- Forum Games
- Art/Graphics/GFX
- Spam
- Ban Appeals

i see you come from an established forum. I thought this as well when i came here however this forum isnt ment to be a main portal where people go to talk. Its a place that we can get information out to people about server stuff. It can be expanded upon a little bit however not too much imo
