    SOPA:
    SOPA is the Stop Online Piracy Act. The Act itself allows copyright holders to challenge the use of their content in any form on the internet. SOPA will basically allow big Business to shut down websites for showing their videos, websites like youtube. This will basically allow Bigger businesses and the government to censor what we can and cannot see. It's pretty much the enforcement of copy write laws to the point of censorship. So please take 2 minutes of your time and sing one of these petition against the bill:

    But back on topic, if i recall, there was a bill similar to this about a year ago. It was never passed as it was beamed unconstitutional. Not sure how this one will play out.

    Also with SOPA, they can take down websites that has the means of hosting this material. Youtube could be taken down before they'd even done anything wrong. Some people could theoretically post copywrited material on facebook, that basis gives the government the right to take facebook down without notice.

    So if a enemy of imdeity (maybye a guy who got banned or is not as clever as him and is annoyed by that fact), if this bill was passed he could post copyrighted things to get the government to shut imdeity down....scary.

    It's likely this won't pass. It's highly unconstitutional and will bring a lot of corruption. I thought were are given the right to free speech?! It's not like this government hasn't passed other crazy bills though.

    Being a person that follows law I know a little about this. This is similar to the Patriot Act that was passed by President George W. Bush after 9-11-2001. It allowed the government to read our emails, tap into our phone calls and do other things of that nature in order to try and counteract terrorism. In my opinion both acts are taking away from our freedoms. This must be stopped.

    Hope it doesn't get passed, but I wouldnt really mind, unless they took away YouTube. Who would be devastated is my friend, who spends 4to 5 hours EVERYDAY on Facebook and YouTube! On the weekdays! And we get to to 3 hours of homework everyday! Think about that.

    It would take off YouTube as YouTube contains copy written materials like music videos, game play etc. It would also block an other website containing any copy written material. So it is something that you should mind about.

    YouTube servers are located in the United States if this bill is passed then it is likely they will be able to block/censor YouTube.

    I would assume you would be able to bypass the block by proxy or VPN. Altho this is something

    I'm pretty sure if this were to be passed, it would never work. The World Wide Web is storing loads and loads on information, surely the government will NOT allocate that much resources to this bill? Besides, most major companies already have their software protected. Anyways, nowadays we all know basic computer skills like Internet Protocol and other vital information to exploiting the computer. This is mindless, waste of their time. Besides, this makes CDs a better way of piracy.
