    Is it just me or have all the caves in the mining world completely disappeared? I was mining the other day for 3 or 4 hours without finding a single cave which I don't understand because I usually find them in like 5 minutes. Does anybody know if they took caves out of the game temporarily or permanently, because without them the mining world is a lot less fun and a lot less productive.

    Yes, I can't find any caves at ALL, I've walked 7k blocks away from spawn, searched for hours but no caves.

    I believe its this seed. There are plenty of pools and lava pits though. :p

    That's the most weird thing I've heard 'removing caves' , why on earth would Mojang want to remove caves out of the worldgenerating system?!

    It's just the seed that has little caves spawning.

    Ya not a fan of this seed either, the mining world is used to find resources not to find mobs galore and fill your inventory with cobblestone, which is all I'm really getting right now, it took me like 4 hours just to find a single stack of iron :/

    I was talking with Rihue in TS, and he said that he was mining for 4+ hours, and not a single cave, or nether quartz :(

    Best part about this is, smc pretty much already said there aren't any caves. Also, we don't use a world seed. It's a fully custom generated world.

    They said it, customized generator... After the super mining world that came out on april's fool's they gave us a caveless mining world!xD
    Which I sincerly like, I find very little iron, but trust me, veins of 4 emerald ores are amazing to see :p And I started brench mining without noticing there were no caves, so I had no problems :D

    Yeah I've found about 7 stacks of quartz 6 of nether and about 20 of soul sand. But no caves.

    My brother found an underwater mountain of soul sand, We dug it out and got almost 2 double chest. I've been finding nether quartz; 1 piece here and there. It usually is between level 4 & 20, and usually close to coal. No cave, but tunnel mining finds it!

    Did you ever know that there are more resources inside the WALLS OF STONE than there are in the caves?

    Let me clear up a misconception about caves and mine shafts.

    Yes, they make it easy to find some ores (especially by people who illegally x-ray or use Rei's mini-map to locate caves). But I bet you didn't know that caves are generated AFTER all the ores have been added to the world. So when a cave is added to the world generation, it takes out a big chunk of stone that had ores in the middle of it. The ores you find in caves are what was left over from when the cave generated. Same thing with mineshafts. They destroy what was already generated.

    For the lazy ones out there, caves are such a great way to find resources. Especially for the really lazy ones that use questionable means to find those caves.

    Iron and coal are available from Y:64 all the way down to Y:1. You shouldn't have any problem finding plenty of those ores if you work for them. The other ores are at varying levels.

    Most people mine at Y:12 which gets them up to about Y:15 or 16, ignoring just about everything else.

    There's plenty out there, always has been.
