Can I make a personal nether portal?

    So I bought a lot of obsidian and have some left over. I am just wondering if I can make a personal nether portal.

    There is NO Nether world in the main worlds (/main and /mine). The hub world has a nether portal at the spawn point, and on the PvP and FTB servers you can create nether portals anywhere.
