The vanilla world has been updated to 1.12.2 and the world has been reset. PVP has also been enabled outside of the protection area.

Feel free to report any issues you find or ideas you have for improving it (including any commands/plugins you'd like to see).

The goal is to provide a basic feature set on this world (not the full Towns/main experience).

I think something like lockette and /home would be good additions to reduce theft but also let people build rather than just survive and hide, set home for getting back if you die ect, one other idea would be maybe donator ranks ? might be a bit to far though

I like that there is this option. I do think though, that if there is to be PvP new players to the world should be given a single 5-10 minute period of "Spawn Protection" where they can get further from spawn without being border killed repeatedly. I saw plenty of Survival and Hardcore Survival servers of old with this functionality and I liked it.

What does every minecrafter hate? Restrictions.

We learned a lot about restrictions on Main World:
    - Can we go to the Nether? No? OMGWHYNOT
    - Can we place lava? No? OMGWHYNOT
    - Can we have invisibility potions? No? OMGWHYNOT

Previous Vanilla World was a good lesson about restrictions as well, seeing some people behave like:
    - Is this stuff protected? No? Then i grief it.
    - Is PvP on? No? Then i use fire, lava or gravel.
    - Is this my cat/dog? No? Then i kill it.

The hardest part of unrestricted vanilla is teaching people that they do not have to fight everyone and destroy everything. There is no plugin for these lectures.

Giving new people some 5-10 minutes to hide does not help when everyone's location is visible on the map. Even if there would be no map, they might need to return to the spawn later for whatever reason. Maybe they want to invite friends to join and play here, which is something that this server desperately needs. Regular players have to keep on mind that killing people at spawn kills this server's activity.

There are few options how to make the gameplay "safer" or how to cut some unnecessary fights:
    - setting Keepinventory = True so nobody loses their stuff when they die, thus killing players gives no loot. On the other hand, this makes the survival less challenging.
    - setting Difficulty = Hard so surviving will be more difficult. This might make players be more busy with PvE than PvP, but i expect that skilled fighters will still find a lot of time for PvP.
    - setting radom teleport so people can disappear from the spawn to any place on the map. This looks good until some new player wants to invite friends to play together, and they end up in totally different place.
    - allowing every player to teleport without limits: unlimited /home and unlimited /tpa for everyone. I can imagine the disbelief and disappointment of newbies who downgrade to try Main world and realise that they cannot use either of these commands.

Then we have the griefing part. What if we use DeityStones to protect our stuff? Diamond blocks are quite convenient, no commands needed, protected areas fit to chunks, and you can claim quite a lot if you have enough diamonds. You can even add friends to these protected areas and give them permissions to use your property. Do DeityStones protect from PvP as well? Is there any way to implement teleport/warp to DeityStones? Like, /stone warp [playername] [stonenumber] to teleport on top of that diamond block? With only people listed in the friendlist allowed to use it? That would be probably as much as we would ever need in Vanilla.

Be careful when using /home: Home locations/coordinates are shared between Main and Vanilla, e.g. if you save your home location in one world and use it in the other one, you may end up mid-air or suffocate in the groud.

Did any non-donator use all of their limit of 40 /homes and can they check if the limit is still there?

Surely thats what the PVP server is for, not a vanilla server where not everyone wants to PVP ?

If this plugin will work with spigot I think it would be a good addition to the Vanilla server.

I'm gold and I'm still limited to 40 homes on vanilla. Or at least it's saying I've used 35/40, haven't reached the cap yet.
A rail system going away from spawn in each cardinal direction could solve some of these issues. Players could hop off wherever they want to build. Maybe protect the system and 25 or 50 blocks on either side. Players would need to be given mine carts too. It would allow players to get to where they want to be naturally without teleportation. It also allows them to get away from spawn quickly so spawn killing is less of an issue.

There are two things needed for Vanilla world. The less needed plugin is some way to claim land and set pvp and mob/explosion/lava/fire/etc damage off on claimed land (it would also need some metric to determine how much land can one player claim), the more needed plugin is anti-hack to keep the game fair, most importantly to block X-ray.

Only after these two are working, we can start looking for other stuff that might be useful.

Question: The Nether and the End are unavailable at the moment. Should there be a way to trade items from the Overworld for Nether and End items ?

A plugin like this : https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/griefprevention.1884/ may be able to do the griefing issue.

and to your trading for Nether and End items, yes please, but may want to fix /home before that so people can return to there base after trading
