I think we should start recruiting undercover mods! How will they actually
be undercover? They will have no tag!
They will team up with griefers and grief the honey house! after that, ban the griefer and roll-back. Only staff will know that someone is an undercover mod.
Any thoughts/more suggestions just post it or mail it to me in-game.

Moderators have more than enough tools at their disposal to catch griefers. Having them undercover and non-identifiable poses potential confusion and will ultimately lead to problems, more likely than not.

Mods are suppose to stop griefings not be apart of them. I don't see the necessity of it, there are many players that are capable of screenshoting something and of course there is /ticket. We have these things so if no staff is on, there will be an investigation of a situation.

If there were undercover mods when they ban there will be a server wide message. I am quite sure they won't be undercover at that point.

    That it all.

To expand on Pasta's point, "Mods are suppose(d) to stop griefings not be apart of them", the idea with this undercover situation is that some mods would subconsciously push players towards griefing or cheating.
They would not be pro-active but retro-active, which is not the point of mods, although sadly most of the time retro-active measures have to be taken.

The idea is that instead of letting new players grief and then punish them, he correct stance would be to educate them towards becoming respectful players who will never grief (like most of the active players).
Reaching that point through punishment is rare. If you look at ban threads or ban appeals, many people who have griefed in the past will eventually grief again. Why? Because for most of them, no one has taken the time to really talk to them about it in a very serious manner.

Basically, Deity's staff is perfect as it is now. Sure sometimes there are issues with staff and what-not, but through time the boss is creating a more apt and responsible team.

Undercover mods would only have negative influence on the server, and most long time players would get pissed at the possibility of a random weirdo stalking you and pushing you to commit crimes, or even just muting you as soon as they can.

The way moderators catch griefers is this way: A person griefs, the damaged person makes a ticket, a moderator checks out the ticket, assigns it to rollback or not and punishes the griefer or not.

Forcing people to make mistakes seems like a weird idea, you want people to behave, not pop out their cocoon a griefer.

In addition, the biggest task of mods is to keep the playing environment healthy, mainly by banning people who badmouth or behave improperly, quite a bit less then griefers. You are suggesting a minor task to become the main reason why staff members should change their being in the game.

As far as tools go, at the click of the enter button and a fairly simple command I could even see what you've done on the entire map. I doubt a moderator needs much more then that as it comes to reacting to griefing or stealing.

Being a moderator isn't about being CSI, nor being popular, it's about helping people, allowing them to make mistakes and learn, allowing people to have fun, without feeling restricted beyond a certain treshold.
