    Town Expansion (Chunk/Plot Info)
    Introduction:
I have received many questions about how to map out the expansion of a town. Creating a town may sound fun, but Mayors soon realize that claiming and organizing land is a big task. This guide will hopefully help many to think about planning before claiming tons of land.

There is one very powerful and expensive command: /t claim. Make sure that before you gather the initial cost of claiming a town (50k), you have extra money in the town bank to claim more plots (500 Dei/Plot).

Reasons for claiming new town areas:
    -Protecting expensive town projects
    -General expansion for residential plots

    Commands:
    /t claim
    (Claims new town land)
/town set plot-price __ (Sets the default price for each plot in town)
/plot set for-sale (Puts a newly claimed plot for sale as the town default price)
/plot set for-sale $ (Sets individual plots up for sale under a certain price)
/plot claim (Command given to residents to claim plots for sale)

    Town Expansion:
When the town is created for the first time, the 50k Dei is spent on claiming 1 plot (the first one). It is important to realize that this plot is the plot used to expand the town. It is NOT possible to claim town plots if they are not connected to the main town Spawn or another town claimed plot.

What is a Plot? 1 Plot = 1 Minecraft Chunk of Land (16 by 16 Blocks)

A town is one big connected grid of protected chunks of land with the center (unless relocated) as the Spawn chunk.

The entire map is in fact broken into already determined chunks. The expansion of a town is the claiming of these already existing server chunks.

When claiming a new town plot, a Mayor/Assistant needs to stand in a location that is adjacent (next) to an existing plot and claim anywhere within the new chunk.

You don’t need to stand in the center of a chunk to claim a new plot. The chunks are already pre-determined on the server map. There is no perfect center in a squared chunk!

    Designing the Town:
This takes a bit of time, but in the end it organizes the natural landscape of a town.

    Steps:
-Determine the town Spawn area and expansion plan
-Physically map the town chunks by placing a block on every square corner

Its easy to plan on a spreadsheet. Google Docs Spreadsheet is free online and is easy to use. Give a link to the plan for everyone in town to view or edit. You will even be able to see the edits of another person live if both are viewing the program!

    Visuals:

Roads are Orange (Roads take up chunks as well, but no need to claim them). It may be easier to claim a single road chunk just to get to a new residential area located on its opposite side.

Residential plots are in Blue or Yellow.

Chunk claiming example: If the plot marked by a Green star has to be claimed immediately, assuming there are no other town chunks claimed, you would stand anywhere inside the chunks marked in the Red star and claim them all by starting from the plot to the West of the Spawn, then South.

Remember: Every chunk is a 16 by 16 Block Square.

    The “4 Corners” :

When the town is claimed for the first time, it is important to “Walk On, Walk Off” the Spawn chunk to determine the edges. It will say ~TownName whenever you walk into the plot.

The 4 Corners of the Spawn chunk should be marked by a single block. The picture below demonstrates the corner of multiple chunks. Each block is the edge of a different chunk.
If you walk around with the /Kingdoms Map On command enabled, a grid will appear in your window with every new chunk. I would focus on the number of the chunk located on the bottom right corner. It will say something like: (100, 200). This is the chunk coordinate.

Use /plot mark. This command marks all 4 corners of the chunk you stand on.

I hope this guide makes it easier to expand a town in a very organized way.

towns that are made up as they are built tend to be unorganised and messy. making a town map of how you want the town to look before you begin, using 1 block to represent 1 plot, will save you and your assistants hours of explanations. all i need to answer are the important questions, because my assistants already know what i have planned for the design of the town because of the glorious map idea. this gives everyone a heads up on how the town is intended to look. and everyone can then work together rather than an unco-ordinated effort and they can also work on the town if i am offline and not able to answer questions about how the town building should proceed. Another great tip i learned from one of the best towns on the server Buenavista. however buena has not updated its town map for months. i shall learn from them and keep my map updated continuously as it saves so much time when navigating large towns especially if you dont have reis minimap installed.
but the main difference between crystalguard and buena is that the whole town is completely planned out. buena had some planned parts and other areas were left to the assistants. where as i have planned the town, the assistants get to choose what they can do with the land. not what land they can or cannot have. so districts will be neat and organised and will fit the town. rather than several assistants claiming land for town in every direction of the map.

just my thoughts on how to keep things tidy. hope this helps some people xD

here is how the map first looked. just had to make sure the assistants knew which end of town was the entrance and which was the back. now thats not rocket science is it?

    Wonderful.

But, this will have been a complete waste of time when Kingdoms 2.0 is released. Update it then?

    Good job though :)

It would probably be a good idea to inform people on Max Size, so that they do not just assume that they can keep claiming land because they have money. Once you have reached your max size you will be unable to claim any more land. You need to recruit more residents to your town in order to increase the max size of your town. To conserve your max size and allow residents to pick the location of their plot (entirely up to the mayor to decide wether they want to allow this) you can build your town up and not claim the plots until you decide you want to. This will help save up your max size.

you can buy "bonus plots" to be able to claim more land when you reach town's max size.
