Superflat maps

    I find it interesting how every time I make one, I start in a NPC Village filled with slimes. While it kind of makes sense that there would be slimes since the maps are at around 6-8 y, why is it that there are always slimes? I thought that they only spawned in one out of every 10 chunks? Am I just lucky, or does this always happen?

    I noticed also that "Superflat" worlds break the rule that you always spawn on sand in Minecraft. Any input?

    I have also found this...and I think the slimes are just more visible because it is so flat.

    I looked it up though before, and at least according to the minecraft wiki: "Slimes spawn only below layer 40, and only in certain chunks that are determined pseudo-randomly by the seed of the world. Roughly 10% of chunks will be able to spawn slimes." (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Slime)

    So at least in normally generated worlds, only one out of ten chunks will have slimes in them, no matter how cleared out they are.

    Happened to me too. It's definatly a glitch, I remember a glitch similar to this that was patched ages ago.

    I tried this and now, I have about 5 stacks of slimeballs. Also, the dirt is only 3 layers deep. Then it's bedrock.

    I tried it too but I was too busy "having fun" with all the testificates to notice the slimes.

    I know Super flat is "In the works" but why release it if its so messed up? Really you HAVE to play this on creative only. On Survival its almost like a challenge mission to gather materials. You'd have to take apart the easy to find NPC villages first just to do anything besides...have dirt.

    I didn't get the slime problem when I ran around for about 20 minutes. Didn't see any slimes. Must be a glitch and an off chance occurrence.

    I usually play on peaceful in single player, but when I turned this to easy I had the same slime invasion in every superflat. This seems to be as an intended feature but notch never mentioned it.

    nothing to explore in super flat maps idt theres any trees so once you cant find any npc villages your out of wood lol , idt theres ores? so besides being used for creative use ait much fun lol

    Slimes tend to spawn almost indefinetly on their 'spawn-chunks' , so they sometimes appear frequently, or in groups, but this...

    slimes are also the only agressive mob to spawn in light. with no other agressive mob spawned in the area there spawn rate increases... that might be why?
