    Look, I know that splash potions are disabled. This is not something I would use negatively. I wanted to make a restaurant and I wanted to put a drink display with all non-harmful drinks. But sadly, the nausea effect is not able to be used in a potion. If this effect could be added onto a custom potion I would be very grateful.

    Quite funny to see this suggestion pop up because I did make a nausea potion while testing the recipes plugin.

    Although it doesn't cause any direct harm to other players and would be a purely cosmetic or joke item, the reference it has to alcoholic beverages is obvious and I have deemed it inappropriate for the server to create an item like that.

    I like this kind of ideas though, simple items/tools that incentivise trading or social interaction. I wish we could have more of that.

    Maybe we should discuss the validity of the family friendly server argument in this case. I have heard many jokes about sugar, and the swiftness potion regarding certain narcotics. Why is the swiftness potion then allowed, but the nausea potion isn't? We have seen with the swiftness potion, that our moderators are competent enough to keep such jokes outside the public sphere.

    So, why should this restriction go for the nausea potion, and not for swiftness?

    Look, now you learned about (normally unobtainable) Nausea potion, what will you do when you will learn about (normally unobtainable) Blindness potion, or (normally unobtainable) Haste, Dullness, Hunger, Decay or Resistance potions from the same list on the wiki?

    Also, how would you prevent people from turning these potions into splash potions by using a gunpowder and a brewing stand?

    Because Swiftness potion is normally obtainable in vanilla MC, but Nausea potion is not. If you want nausea, eat a pufferfish.

    Unless something changed, I don't know of splash potions ever being disabled on main. We disabled the spider eye because that is the only ingredient that the harmful potions have in common, but didn't mess with splash pots.

    @Lego
    Anyone making that joke has to make quite a stretch to connect a swiftness potion and narcotics. I've personally never made that connection, and I think those that do (publicly) should be reprimanded - not the potion. However, the nausea potion is not too far a stretch for a normal person to make that connection. Driver hit the nail on the head. There is no use to a nausea potion except for "fun" in some situations, most of which can be easily alluded to alcohol. A swiftness potion provides an actual use that can only be connected to a negative connotation by those whom seek to do so.

    @Barry
    Not everything is a domino effect, and I don't know the effects of all the potions, but so long as they couldn't be used to unfairly boost your person or restrict another person's abilities, and so long as they don't allude directly to a drug in the real world, I think it would be fine if they came along (I can see using blindness on yourself being "fun"). But obviously that can't happen if Spider Eyes are disabled :l. Basically there needs to be better coding to pinpoint exactly what you can and cannot do with each and every type of potion (Can use blindness on self, but cannot throw a splash blindness potion [even though you can create and hold one]) - which I assume will never happen.

    In short? Sucks, but oh well. I agree with Barry - eat a pufferfish.

    Edit: Oh and @SharpyArcher your poll is biased. It gives 3 options for no, all of which are essentially the same, and 1 option for yes. All your options could be condensed to just "Yes" and "No", as most people will leave their thoughts that don't just fit in a "yes" or "no" down in the comments.

    @Mojinax I didn't not say that i want the swiftness potion to be removed. I am saying that the nausea potion should be made accessable because of it's similarity with the swiftness potion in the context of Driver's argument. The game is supposed to be fun, for some, the silliness of the nausea potion would be a nice addition to the game.

    I recognize that this is a very very very minor issue, and I don't expect this to be anywhere near the top of the to-do list, but it would be a nice sand silly little addition to the server.

    The potion could be made into a special crafting recipe, that does not need spidereyes.

    If so, I think the crafting recipe should be poison potatoes ;)

    Although I think idea of the Nausea Potion is fun, it isn't appropriate for our server and quite different from the Swiftness potion in my opinion.

    The Speed effect from the swiftness potion is caused by sugar, it is a 'sugar rush' or some energy drink-like effect. The connotation people may give to it is forced in for the joke they want to pull. The Nausea effect however makes the connection to alcohol obvious and if not 'mandatory', as it is actually the only way I can explain a bottle you drink of which makes the world spin around you.

    As I see it, the inappropriate joke made about Swiftness potions is in the head of whoever makes that joke, who wants to ditch the 'sugar rush' idea and interpret the potion's effect that other way, while the inappropriate reference in the Nausea potion is potion itself and the only reason why it would exist.
    There are no Nausea potions in Minecraft so, rather than simply be 'making it accessible', we would actually be creating it, and that's the big issue to me: How staff would use one of the server's plugins to create a drinkable item whose effect makes you dizzy and which we expect players to drink and share with their friends because it is "fun".

    Lol I hate how I sound like some bastion of morality when people know I'm far from it (really far sometimes), but for this case I'd rather be cautious. This item that should be nothing but a little gag could turn into us, as a server, manufacturing and incentivising a behavior without ever intending to. Could be acceptable in other places, but not in a server that wants to be family-friendly. We could find other ways.

    Also,
    Don't worry about this (at least for custom recipes at this moment). Since the plugin configuration is so simple, I am doing it myself and we only have to bug Deity to ask if he approves whatever is suggested and then to upload the recipes file to the server (what is going to be done soon anyway), so if you (or anyone) could come up with anything similar to this that uses custom recipes, with Deity's approval, it could be added to the server at the same time as the recipes revision.

    Have you noticed what Vershye said? Let me quote it and think if it would be still fun to have splash potions of nausea being thrown at you all the time.

    Lol, I wouldn't mind it. I'd think it's kind of fun, and if you don't want that, then just don't make splash potions for it.
