ahh my area, imma network guy

i also live in australia the best way to get a good connection to the server is to exit every single other application that use's upload bandwidth
in Australia atleast upload speeds are shockingly slow compared to download speeds latency also effects your connection
    my tips are
    1. say bye to torrents not just on your pc but any pc in the household/internet connection
2.any sort of VPN (EG. hamachi) will kill your connection
    3. get cable broadband or even better fiber optics the nbn may help there
    4. have a little patience the server does have lag spikes and everyone gets them
    5. do not use a wireless access point they add latency which is your enemy wired connections are the best

^ What he said. Don't have your browser up unless necessary, exit all applications. Just have minecraft up.

And, yeah, use wired. It's better connection than wireless, wireless is decent if you got a good connection overall.
    I'd go for wired anyday.

    yep yep yep

theres a little debeat wheather adding 20 - 25 Ms of latency in exchange for the mobilty of wireless, But if your looking for the best possible connection wired is the only approach
