I find a flat land. Then I normally dig a 16x16 square. Then I continue mining downward. when I have reached the bottom (bedrock) I go up, and dig one rite beside the first one. with this you can get a lot of resources and a large flat building area.

    I mine with my wife.

    Our method is this:

Firstly, we get down to Y: 12.

Then, we dig in a straight line away from /go mine spawn. The tunnel is 1x2, just big enough for a player to walk through.

We have two of these tunnels, side by side, with two blocks in the middle. That way, if there is a deposit between us, one of us will see it. (I guess we could technically increase to 3 blocks in between us.)

If we hit lava, we try to go around. If we hit Abandoned Mineshafts, we'll explore it as best we can. Same for Strongholds (haven't hit one yet, thought).

I mine in a 1x2 tunnel at Y=12 and every 3rd block, I mine out a 1x1 block area in each direction for as far as my reach will go.

In the past, I did shafts at level 12.6. Now, I mostly do cave/ravine mining. I come across a lot of dungeons, I get more ore/pick usage and I seem to get more ore in general. Granted, anti-xray can make it a bit hard; using torches makes it better to uncloak ores. Magic carpet also helps as I can clear out a ravine of ores in minutes.

Exactly what Bonesetter said, Arsenic and I use that method and it works great.

I am however intrigued by MattiMutti's method, I will have to give that a try.

I mine with a mining technique I saw on YouTube. Go 4 blocks in. After 4 blocks, place a torch on the 4th block. Go to the second block, dig in both directions for 4 blocks. Repeat for hours! Whenever I hit a cave, I explore it, or a ravine. They are easy to explore. There are no branches in them, they just curve every once in a while.

I stick with the standard 2x1 tunnels 2 blocks adjacent to one other, then mining the 3rd block high on the return. Seems very efficient to me.

I typically just hold down the mouse button with a pickaxe till a block turns into a small block. I dunno why people seem to be so complicated

    Branch mine at y:12 .
3-5 block spacing between shafts, 1x2 shafts, 200-1000 blocks long each.

i cut down to just above bedrock, then start a path just big enough, when i hit gravel or dirt i clear it. lets face it, shovel is faster than a pick, and i hollow out some goodies in the stone surrounding the dirt regularly

Currently, I strip mine. I'm working on refining the technique. I've only made haphazard rooms so far, digging them out as a 1 wide 3 high tunnel, then skip 2 wide and dig another. I want to make my starting room 16x16 and make sure it matches the edges of a chunk so I can mark how many resources I get per chunk and move on without digging the rest of the chunk out.

Dig a staircase down to bedrock. Go up to a certain lvl. Start mining straight until I hit a mine or I start going left, right,or down.
