Flying Falling Damage

    Have any of you doners noticed /fly shutting off while you are mining/jumping between blocks?

    I have died about 30 times and haven't really made a big stink about it because I haven't lost much (mainly due to quick recoveries.)

    This latest instance i'm in the mining world, I plot into the ocean and hightail it to the floor. I get down there and chop thru the clay down a few blocks and throw a cobblestone on top of me to plug the tube.

    I mine down a few more blocks and take falling damage falling ONE BLOCK and I die.

    I spawn at the portal, /main to get to the main world, then /home to get another axe and spade then get back to the mining world.

    I hurry back to the spot where I died and do the same thing.

    I get down to my stuff, am literally just standing on a block, use /fly off, and DIE AGAIN.

    I would love to get my stuff back, I lost two enchanted hammers and various other things I can get again at minimal cost which is not a problem, but the bigger issue here is why do you take such huge falling damage while in fly mode?

    Why is this damage applied when falling ONE BLOCK?

    Why am I taking damage (and dying) when I am standing on a block, no jumping, not breaking any blocks around me, when I turn off flying?

    Do any of you have any stories like this? Want to share them?

    I am just frustrated and venting. If I died because I was being stupid then that's on me, but this is legit stuff.

    I have had it happen alot, but what you can do is do /fly off and hit the ocean then swin down to get your stuff that should prevent the fly damage. Cause what I have found out that if you fall into water it will calculate that damage and since theres not fall damage in water it should prevent the insta death.

    not a place for me to comment as i am not a donor, thus cannot fly - but holy crap, that's a nasty bug - I would think it has a huge priority to be fixed?

    I've thought of that, but I tunneled a bit down there so after I get out of the ocean and unto the chute i'll be in free fall and will die again.

    All the items have probably despawned, nice 2000dei loss.

    Have you landed properly before you typed /fly off? If not, that's your problem. Flying while in survival mode means that the whole time you're in the air accumulates into falling time, so when you turn off fly before you touch the ground, you're pretty much screwed.

    That makes sense.

    I am positive that I was landed the second time I died; that's when I gave up.
