Thaumcraft is a quite intricate mod for the magic lovers of the modded Minecraft players. It takes a lot of patience, skill, and acute understanding of the mod to complete. With Thaumcraft, you can harvest the power and essence of balls of aspects called "nodes" which are located all around the map, and can be faintly seen with the bare eye, but clearly seen with a Thaumometer or Goggles of Revealing. Nodes are possibly the most important factor for as aspiring Thaumcraft researcher. To get started with all of this though, you must make a Thaumonomicon.

Getting Started- You need a Thaumonomicon! How in the world do you make that? It's quite simple, actually! First, you need a Iron Capped Wooden Wand, and a bookshelf.

2 Iron Caps, 1 stick for 1 Iron Capped Wooden Wand

    Next, you need a Thaumometer!

2 Gold Ingots, 1 Glass of any color, and two element shards
(Earth Shard, Fire Shard, Air Shard, Water Shard,
Order Shard, Entropy Shard) for 1 Thaumometer

Now, to make your Thaumonomicon you need to place the bookshelf you've made on the ground, then right click it with your wand. This will make a Thaumonomicon which you can walk up to and pick up.
Now, with your Thaumometer in hand, you need to go around looking for nodes. They're quite common, and finding them should be easy. They're small and occupy one block of space, and give off light on the ground beneath them if they're close enough. They're much easier to see through the Thaumometer, which is why I recommended you make one prior to hunting for them. Once you find them, if they don't have complicated aspects in them, you can scan them by holding right-click and aiming at the node. This should give you research points for that node. After that, hold your wand and do the same. Hold right click while aiming at the node. The aspects from the node will then charge your wand, making it possible to craft Thaumcraft related things, which you'll need. Hunt for nodes after you have a decent charge in the 6 primary aspects (Aer, Aqua, Ignis, Ordo, Perditio, and Terra)

Nodes will look something like this through your Thaumometer.

Wander around quite a bit until you've gathered a sufficient amount of research points for the 6 primary nodes. You may come across some nodes that will have question marks, and when you attempt to scan them they will tell you that you do not have sufficient enough research to understand them. You can ignore this for now and move on. Once you're back from hunting nodes, you need to make an Arcane Worktable and a Research Table. For this, you will need to make three tables.

For 1 table: 3 wooden slabs, 2 wooden planks
In total: 9 wooden slabs, 6 wooden planks

Place one table down, and on top of it place the wand you made earlier. This will make your Arcane Worktable. You can place and remove the wand from this table. The reason you need this table as opposed to a traditional crafting table is because some of the things you'll be making in Thaumcraft require an energy that your wand can hold called "vis". Vis is essential for special crafting, infusing certain items, and Osmotic Enchanting (exclusive to Thaumic Tinker). Along with the ability to craft special items, you can also leave items in the Worktable.

Moving onto the Research Table, you should now place your remaining two tables next to each other, and place Scribing Tools on top of one of the tables.

Great idea setting this up Qazz! I remeber getting into thaumcraft, and I can say for sure that without other people's help it would have taken me forever to figure it out. Hopefully this gives people a good start. Make sure you put up a tutorial on researching things, that's what I found hardest :)
