    Hello fellow ImDeity players,

Are you an aspiring Feed The Beast : Magic World 2 player that's been having some issues getting started? Well, hopefully this thread can help you! Here are some helpful tidbits that may assist you in your endeavors while in game.

Now, before starting, made sure you've followed the ImDeity Feed The Beast : How To Join post and have successfully logged into the server.

Side note: Magic Farm 2 Tutorials, Tips and Tricks

    Getting Started:

Now, food isn't as important as it is in Magic Farm 2, and your food bar doesn't run out nearly as quickly as it does in there either. Along with the food not being as much of a priority, the amount of mobs and their difficulty is not as severe either. That being said, shelter is still almost a necessity for surviving a night while stationary. It doesn't need to be anything grand, unless that's where you plan to remain for the duration of your time in game. Just something simple so that you're not completely wrecked by a mob you're unable to handle in your early stages.

As far as food goes, during the day time, I suggest you seek out a Rainbow Forest biome. This particular biome spawns many chicken/sheep/cows which all provide food and other necessary resources, however I wouldn't recommend making your base in one due to the lag that can be created due to the large amounts of mobs.

As well as the aforementioned topics, making tools and such is simpler in Magic World 2. Simple Minecraft tools can be made, as well as highly advanced tools with the assistance of mods such as, but not limited to the Farlander mod, Thaumcraft, Ars Magica, and Magic Crops. However, it should be noted that it seems that the percentage of Minecraft ore spawns such as diamonds and iron has been reduced to make room for the ores that other mods add, such as GeoStrata and Ars Magica.

Important note: Things such as Arcane Ore, Essence Ore, and Vinteum Ore are quite important later in the game, and should definitely be collected if found.

    Ars Magica:

Overview- Ars Magica is a mod that allows players to create spells to cast that can serve numerous purposes such as attacking other entities and defending yourself or team members. Ars' spell casting is based off of the idea of an energy that can be used and regenerated that allows you to cast spells called Mana. Each spell, depending on the strength and use, costs a different amount of Mana. Your Skill in Ars Magica is something that can be leveled up by the use of spells or by using a rarely found item called Infinity Orbs which can be found in dungeons and such, and used by right clicking it while it's in your hand. New spells may be unlocked using things similar to levels called skill levels in a tool called an Occulus, then made on an Inscription Table, and finally fully crafted in a Crafting Altar while your book is placed on a lectern nearby.

    Thaumcraft:

    Aspect Sources

    Arcane Scrolls:

Overview- Arcane Scrolls has a similar structure to Ars Magica in the sense that it's able to use offensive, defensive, and utility scrolls. These are unlocked using an Arcane Tome and regular experience levels. The knowledge for each scroll can be unlocked with experience levels up to 30 by right clicking the book while it's in your hand, and going through the pages and clicking on the spell(s) you wish to unlock. On the final page of the book, you have the option to write scrolls. To do so, you select the scroll you wish to write on the left side of the book, then go over to the write side and enter the quantity that you would like to write, provided you have the resources available to do so (a quill and a blank scroll, the crafting recipes for each found in your NEI menu).

Necessity : Arcane Pouch - An Arcane Pouch is what stores the energy that is used to execute certain actions and to power the scrolls associated with this mod. Arcane Stones are the form of the fuel called "AE" that powers everything. You obtain AE by putting Arcane Stones into an Arcane Pouch. Arcane Pouches can be crafted, as shown below, and you can put AE into them by right clicking the pouch with however many Arcane Stones you'd like to put into the pouch. Each Arcane Stone counts for 50 AE. After putting the stones into your pouch, hovering over the pouch with your mouse will show you the current "charge".

(Note: Any type of wool may be used to make an Arcane Pouch.)

Luxury : Anchor Stone - An Anchor Stone is an item you may craft that allows teleportation to a location determined by the user at the expense of AE. The location at which you teleport to is set by the player by right clicking the stone in the location they'd like to set. After setting the location, hovering over the stone will show you a set of coordinates, and the AE cost to teleport to that location, which never exceeds 1,000 AE while in the same world as the set location. To remove the location set onto the stone, the player may Shift-Right-Click with the stone in hand. This will allow them to set a new location for the stone if desired.

While in a world that the anchor location is not, the AE cost will always be 200 AE. Fairly cheap, especially if you decide to go exploring in Mystcraft worlds or the Nether.

First off a question, the (will edit in), does that mean they aren't active atm but will be worked into later? Anyway, when it does get added in or already is the Ars Magicka mod is in a way like Skyrim spells, and they need mana to cast so be cautious how much you use at a time while waiting for them to recharge mana. Just find a Youtube tutorial to find a better explanation or idea what this acutally looks like but you'll need some magic water stuffs and a book with a picture frame to "craft" the first and most important item, the book (like thaumcraft's thauminomico)

The "(Will edit it)" under each names just means that she haven't put up any information on it yet. All the mods listed are activated in the modpack. :)

I've learned quite a bit and have a few good tips. First, find a pumpkin as soon as possible and combine it with a book. this will tell you how to make really cheap golems to defend you. A dispenser in place of a pumpkin will show you how to make turrets.
Arcane Anchors from the Arcane Scrolls mod is amazingly useful. You can use it to teleport to a specific area. The cost increases with range, up to 1000 AE, however, if you are in a different realm or age it will only ever cost 200 AE. So placing the teleport location in a age you don;t use will significantly cut costs.
Animals won't despawn if you feed them -told to me by Mika_Says
The Block Mover can move thaumcraft nodes -told to me by Micklen
The entity mover can be used to hold a golem or turret for a quick defense away from home.
the 'i' key can be used on a tool to bring up an ingame enchantment calculator
The Magic Crops mod is also worth every bit of time put into it! (it does take a lot of time though...)

In Arcane Scrolls the special spell section will need 50 levels per spell to learn. There is like 6 or seven of them. There are some pretty good ones in it though. Mobility gives you an already tamed and saddled horse, Aid gives you a tamed wolf and Oblivion will instantly kill all mobs in the AoE area but also will take 9 hearts from any players in the AoE. (AoE = Area of Enchant)
