I'm sure most of you reading this have noticed that there are quite a few towns that are started, then they just go inactive. I had an idea. Maybe we could make a rule saying if no one in the town is online for two months (this amount of time is left for the server staff to decide, two months was just an idea itself) the town gets deleted, and all the land it takes up is restored.

    Ideas upon this idea:
-Have it so that the bigger the town is, the larger time slot they have.

With this idea, there won't have to be resets nearly as often (I already know they don't happen often, I'm just saying even less often than that).

Something different once was planned with inactive towns... Some kind of auction. But the bigger timeslots for bigger towns makes no sense. The bigger a town is, the more likely someone comes on. If not, something else is terribly wrong. While a one or two man town might be empty due to holidays...

I see. That's okay, that was an idea in itself. What about the rest of the idea?

Like I said, the idea was to auction the towns after some time of inactivity. But due to other projects and some probs with actually follow up on a regular basis, we lost it out of sight I guess. ;)

We could try implementing that when Deity has the time, or maybe this new thing I suggested. :D

I like this idea, it give want-to-be town-owners a chance to start a nice town on nice land and would give inactive town people incentive to get onto the server.

If there is "town to be deleted" with mayor inactive over 30 days, would it be possible to start auction in trade forum by staff member? With bid starting at the same price as town debt?

As far as I know, towns only get deleted/auctioned off (outside of the mayor requesting it) if the town goes severely into debt. Yes, that generally means these towns sit around for a while, but the main world is huge. There are plenty of locations to settle a town even with ghost towns lingering. Those towns eventually get removed in some way, and that will free up a little more space, but that isn't necessarily needed.

I've made this post before, but if people really don't like "inactive towns," they can do something about it themselves. If it's an eyesore, make it pretty. If it isn't, then what's wrong with its existence? If there is an attractive town that absolutely no one lives in, why not just leave it and let it be something pretty to look at. Use it for some in-game role-play. Write some fictitious stories about it. Otherwise, why worry? There is already a system in place that rarely needs to be used anyway. If you are so worried about an inactive town, you can bid for it and then send out the notice and get the town deleted. The main world is for the players to shape it.

I think what would make the towns better, is if you can claim land your self..... yeah because I've been trying for ever in !^!!! ;)

This could tie in the the http://imdeity.com/threads/project-to-build-ruins-in-wild.16889/ thread nicely. I can think of a few options...

    1. Delete the town
    2. Auction off the town
    c. (My favorite) Make town /wild so it can be looted and deconstructed like real abandoned cities.
    4. Designate a "City Reclamation Team" to take the valuables and the age everything with vines and trees and an overgrown abandoned look.
    v. Do nothing
