    Hello ImDeitians,

In honor of my 7.500 posts on the forums, and another level reached in forum-addiction, i have decided to suggest something to the server, something that i consider vital for this server , which could be life altering for many players, something that i miss, looking back at the 'good old days' . Ofcourse i am talking about the whitelist, the Whitelist, a system that prevents people from joining without being approved as legitimate players. Without this system a server, our server, is open for everyone that wants to join, including griefers, people that have kleptomanic urges, or people that feel the need to swear, curse, or anything else to ruin other people's fun. This group, commonly refered to as 'idiots' or 'noobs' or 'griefers' must be stopped!

    The advantages of the whitelist:
    - People that seriously want to play take 5 minutes of their time applying, before being able to be whitelisted and being able to join the server, people that only want to ruin other people's fun will not apply, as 5 minutes is to long for these impatient fools.
    - Better regulation of alt accounts: People need to whitelist for each alternative account, not mentioning their 'same-owner status' would be considered lying, as there are other ways to check this.
    - More donations, due to a higher server-quality.

    The downside of the whitelist:
    - Less players
    - Staff members have to spend more time on whitelisting people
    - Less donations, due to less players

    Summarized:
A good server leads to more players, which is also reversible, it is not clear what precise numbers each decision brings us, but this is a short summary:
No whitelist: Less quality, more quanity of players, and possibly more quality in the end.
Whitelist: More quality, less quanity of players, and possibly more quanity in the end.

What do you think? Got something to add? Vote in the poll, and leave a reply down below!

I dislike this idea. I think that harsher punishments for griefers and stealers would do a better job protecting the server than a whitelist.

Yeah, it matters on the quality of a server than the quanity of the people in this server.

I think there should be a whitelist.

I believe that the whitelist is needed. Too many Noobs on the server... It can get very annoying...

I do have some concerns though, I like the idea about "quality>quantity" I stand strong for that.
But I do think that ( dont take this disrespectful ) that the server already lack of active people. This would even give less people than before. I don't know but I'm kinda 50/50 this idea.

If whitelist was removed now there would probably be lots of people still playing actively, and people applying to be whitelisted at the same pace as before.

I remember when I joined we had the whitelist. We were like one big happy family. Every person that first joined, we welcomed. There was rarely any problems in chat and the server. Things just seemed so peaceful and upbeat. I certainly miss those days. Yes, there was always >100 people on but of those people, I knew almost ALL of them. I like the idea to bring it back. Quality is always better than quantity. Because with quantity, you've seen what it has brought us. You get people of all sorts of kinds, some that you wouldn't like to have anywhere near you and some you do. It would be great to have it back :)

More quality means more active players (in percentage of the total), people that don't have to whitelist are more likely to quit, as whitelisting shows that they want to play, and also play good. The server is crowded, a little more quality and less quanity couldn't hurt from time-to-time?

We have no whitelist atm. And indeed people would still come to the server (think you ment it this way).

I noticed in the first paragraph near the end about the "idiots" and what not you typed as with 2 s's just letting you know. I think this is a great idea but with less people we get less votes.

Funny thing is, we were #1 for quite a while when had the whitelist until SE advertised itself on MineStatus to gain all those people and votes.

Thanks for the spelling correction there, made a typo...

Less people doesn't neccesarily mean less votes, a whitelist attracts higher-class people, people that understand the concept of voting, take the top 5 towns in votes for example:

Buena Vista: 263 residents - 280 votes , in 5 days, which means roughyl 1/5th of all the people there vote on a daily basis.
    Wraught: 178 residents- 142 votes
    Scarletdawn: 94 residents- 87 votes
    Rhegion: 80 residents - 60 votes
    Rech: 59 residents - 56 votes

All very poor votes/residents/day results... people vote less then 1/5th of the time.

    ImDeity on minestatus: 1,847 votes.

The amount of players on everyday, and at any given moment: 1000-2000 people, 30-220 people.

    People hardly vote at all.

"Quanity" is now the driving force. The old days are old for a very obvious reason.

I vote FOR a whitelist. No explanation necessary, in my humble opinion.
