So, I recently finished reading A Dance with Dragons the fifth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series written by George R.R. Martin and now I'm stuck with reading The Lord of the Rings, again, although it is a classic...

Anyways I'm wondering if there are many readers on this site and if so; What are you currently reading?

On another note: I've been looking for a good Sci-fi novel series that is as "mature" as A Song of Ice and Fire. I have yet to find any decent ones, so any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

It probably isn't as "mature" as those books, but a good read, seriously not just for kids. Skulduggery pleasant (Although yeah, the kid aspect is there)

There are currently 7. The first few are small-ish and less..Mature. But they set the scene and are still a good read.

I read a brief description of Skulduggery Pleasant - It reminds me of Sherlock Holmes for some reason, except more mystical and fantasy-driven.

Regarding good fantasy books I still fovourise Eragon as the best saga. I know it is quite old, but this book really got me and it is ways better than the film in my eyes!

A friend recommended that to me. Would watching the film spoil the book?

I'll stay away from the film then. I'll have a look at all three of those series, thank you.

During my holidays i read part 1 and 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire , loved them!
Who was your favorite character in the book? For me it was The midget Tyrion Lannister, he reminded me of an imp.

Favourites are Arya Stark, Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow and Brienne of Tarth. I can't wait for the other books from that series, too bad A Dance with Dragons was only released recently. D:

the problem about the film is just: it has been made in a way that does not give the possibility of doing a sequel. Too many people that are essential for the upcoming plot have been left out.

To put in this quote I simply have to retranslate it from my German version... ;) "We are an ancient nation and our skills and knowledge is far above those of the mortals. Galbertorix and his allies have to beware themselves because we Elves are about to leave our forest and we will come back triumphant or never ever.

Oh, I understand. I'll give the books a chance before even going near the film.

It's cool to see a topic like this. It's very original. I've been finding myself going back to House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. It's super good. I love it, and the footnote placement makes it awesome. :D

What genre of book/novel is that? For some reason the name sounds like a Romantic?
