Ace's Tutorials: Basic building tips

Welcome to my first Tutorial, I have been looking around the server recently noticing that a large proportion of users aren't really incorporating much design into there builds, and rather keep them simple. (which I can help you change some of those habits) This is covering mainly the exterior, if requested I can give some opinions on interior as well.​

This is only an opinion and if some of the more experianced builders want to give some tips your more then encouraged to do so ​

Example 1.​

This build is an example of about the most simply house you can create and sadly this is what I'm seeing a lot of around the server I think everyone would much rather be looking at house's that are good quality builds! (By that I don't mean MultiColorNugget houses)​

The "MultiColorNugget" is probably the worst house I can think of showing off your wealth like this just makes you out to be a bad builder and a show off.​

Ok so it has been a while but I will try and show some of my building techniques.​

(P.S The Turtle does have it's own home on my single player world his name is charlie he is my helper.)​

My Building Technique​

First of all I don't just start building whatever come to my head, In my opinion this is one of the main reason I see builds "Failing " so I will be building my town on the server and as I do I will go through each of my builds on this thread explaining what inspiration I used to come up with the final product. As well exterior and interior design.​

There used to be far worse builds on the old map, cobblestone boxes, each with it's fair share of greifs.

this is gonna be good, the best i can do is make a dome, but even then, those aren't as cool anymore.

Haha at everyone who says something like: "Really helped" Your spam sucks... how can you say something really helped when there's no actual help in there, just "Don't do this, or this" , lol.

Something to add to your tutorial(if you don't have it already) would be the use of different colored blocks not a multi-nugget but two or three different blocks of different colors to help accent other areas so instead of a boring two story house made of wood you can add some sand for the walls and outline with wood logs instead of planks turning a very resource friendly and simple build into one with a little bit of color and that stand out effect

 

You are an utter GOD when it comes to building. You need to mentor me

Looks like my cobble shack is going down pretty soon...... And my diamond block plot also.

 

Search it on the forums. You need to be class Craftsman - Worker/Laborer, not sure if you can do it as Worker or not. But what you do is place a sign, and go to the second line from the top and type [lift up/down] depending on if you want to make the lift go up or down. Then on the same vertical line of blocks, place a sign with the same [lift up/down] depending on if the sign is above or below it on the vertical axis
