A little more clarity in the Mining World.

    It just took me far to long to realize that I had to move x amount of blocks away from the starting point for me to be able to mine. Maybe include a welcome message that tells you? I could definitely see it being useful :D

    This is usually explained by experienced players in game chat:

    - "Why cannot i mine in /mine?"
    - "Because you have to walk further away from spawn"

    There used to be signs at the mine spawn. But the mine map was recently reset, and I guess a new mine spawn has yet to be built.

    There are signs at the mining world spawn that say "You need to move 500 blocks out to mine". The original spawn building was removed, but the signs are still there at least. Also, you're given a message if you try to break anything within those 500 blocks that you are within the spawn area. You get a message as well once you leave the region, so there isn't really any more that's necessary than that.

    *Edit - Apparently they were removed, but when I spawned in there were signs and messages and all

    I just went to test. It looks like there are no signs AND no chat messages. When you break a block it just ignores you. Thanks for the heads up, Meff.
