I want it as cheap as it can be but efficient. I am not sure the exact budget yet due to lack of knowledge on Student Loan amounts. It doesn't need to be an immediate project so if you want you can wait a little. I just need to find a generalized cost so I can budget when the time comes. However it needs to be a gaming computer, I'd like it less than $1000 if can be, thanks.

gaming computer at less than 1000 could be kinda difficult, keep an eye out for when things get sales if you want that goal (also not the latest stuff)

^ It's not difficult at all actually. Unless you are trying to run games at full settings, 4k/1440p, then it shouldn't be too hard.

This should probably run most games at Ultra Settings, 1080p (maybe even a bit higher resolutions) at 60 FPS+.

Ah see, i refuse to go any less than a quad core i7 or 2tb hard drives (they fill up fast) Also for gaming you tend to need an optical drive simply because if you get a pc game not online youll need a way to download it, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Q7KwBm
this is basically a cheap version of my build (actual has much more parts to it)

i7 are usually for very intensive tasks like editing and rendering. The i5's are perfect for gaming, imo i7's are kinda overkill for gaming. The only reason I would see you using it just for gaming is too make sure that SLI graphics cards (like 980 ti or something) dont bottleneck.

Room for hard drives is usually about preference.

Optical drives are iffy. Most games now adays are digital, but in the case you do need to use a optical drive, i guess it wouldn't hurt to get one.

Oh yeah of course, using a i7 for things like CAD work is almost essential
