Personally i think the new addition of a 5 second wait time for /t spawn is really annoying. I noticed that it is also the only TP that has a wait time. I think this implementation should be reconsidered. Any thoughts; leave em here

There's a time limit? I hardly notice it since I dont need to TP to the town every 5 sec's, 30's at the least using /home then /t spawn to work on our spawn.

As I'm at work and can't check on the server, are you saying there's a five second timer that starts after you type [/t spawn] before it teleports you?

Or are you saying there is a 5 second timer between how many times you can /t spawn?

yes, i noticed it this morning. You have to wait 5 seconds to get teleported and you cannot move while waiting

atm there is both however the latter is a 10 second cooldown.

The cooldown will be staying however the warmup atm is just out for testing purposes to see how the community reacts. It will also be applied to all /go commands and other forms of teleportation within the server. Also the "not moving" isnt actually there -_- thats something i have in the code but its all commented out so it woundnt be active. I forgot to change the messaging back to the original

The reasoning behind the warmup atm is mainly to stop people from teleporting out of the pvp arenas and getting away from harm via the "niceties" of a not 100% survival server. It also discourages the use of teleporting a bit and hopefully provides more incentive to walk around. Most people only get a look at a small fraction of the map, This should help that a little.

/home appears to be instant. /town spawn will make you stand in 1 place for 5 seconds before teleporting you. I did not notice a timer that says you can't spawn more than x times in y seconds.

Edit: looks like van posted while i was typing my reply. As for my opinion of the delay. Honestly, i think if it was in place from day one then people wouldn't think twice about it and simply accept it as part of the process. Though, since we've already had the instant version, people will balk at the idea of waiting 5 seconds. Overall, it doesn't really matter much to me. It adds a slight bit of realism to the game. It also makes it so that you can't try to teleport a second before you're about to die (falling, low health and being attacked, etc). In that regard, i like the idea.

:p your post was alot more indepth and what i would like to see in responses to this. well thought out posts stating your opinions on it and why. Rather then "that would be lame". I also agree about the "adding it in half way through" thing. Once people know the good life, its hard to change.

ALSO i fixed the "dont move around" in game notification for y'all

Heh, that would be the developer in me. At work, if i add one click to a procedure then customers will be in an uproar that it takes too long. UX design is somewhat of an art that involves knowing how to read user expectations and intuitions. It's often impossible to please everyone, so you just try to choose the way that makes the most people happy... or at least the most important people, lol.

I'm guilty of accidentally falling into lava and /t spawning immediately. (In my town, /t spawn drops you into waist-deep water.)

So. . . it looks like I won't be skipping death any longer.

I'm ok with waiting and i'm ok with not moving, but I did find one thing to gripe about. It cancels the teleport if i bump the mouse (which causes the avatar to look in another direction). Then i have to retype the command due to cancellation even though i didn't move to another block.

Can we make the 'not moving' check less sensitive? Perhaps just have it check the x,y,z coords and not evaluate if the person changed their look perspective?

i accept the delay on /go or /t spawn, maybe even the delay on /tpa but the not being able to move while waiting for the person to /agree is frustrating because sometimes they take a second and i get bored and if i move then i have to make them type /agree again. while on the subject id like to propose allowing /tpa without needed /agree if used on a "mutual" friend

But now you cant even touch your mouse the very slightest without the teleport being cancelled.
