Town Upgrades?

In my opinion, towns are just places for you to build a home. Yes, you have probably made some friends within your town, but think about it. How many times have you actually worked together with your town to do something worthwhile? You may have worked with your neighbor to make a mansion, but wouldn't it be nice to have a project that your entire town contributed to? My idea is that maybe there is a place in every town where you can donate dei and in-game items, like cobble, or dirt. You would have goals, and when you reach them, your town gets a bonus, or a reward of some sort. It is a rough idea, and i am hoping to spark an idea in a more creative head, but an example could be

EXAMPLE TOWN
10 stacks of smooth stone
2,000 dei
30 stone picks

REWARD:
more land
10 iron ingots to each member
and some other thingy that the entire town could use/ enjoy, or that everybody gets.

As i said, this is a rough idea. Please try to help it expand into an actual idea, and i will be editing and updating this post with other ideas as they come, hopefully with some credits.

As CTTheSchism said, town quests could be a way to expand this concept of town... bonding? The idea that i was getting at was that towns could work together to achieve something that they could all enjoy, and this would be a great way to do it! Thanks for the input!

 

If you think that people don't work together, then you have joined the wrong town. Instead of randomly accepting any invitation you get in-game, try browsing the forums and find a place that fits you best.

Other than that, I think this suggestion is not that useful.

 

Yep, many towns have giant projects where people work toghether
ATM all Cynosure residents are working on a -giant- castle for example
If you joined a town filled with noobs its time to change town!
Few towns do huge projects, but the ones that do are the ones that you want to join

 

I do agree on the fact that towns are often only a small part of the community they can be, but i do not agree with the way you want to make towns work together more.

 

I think this post is pretty subjective. My town works on a lot of projects together. Whether it's arenas, an amusement park, or just building the infrastructure the town needs, we are a helpful and community-minded lot.

 

Yes towns do work together, I own a town called Minecraftia and all the residents are helping to tear the mountains what I need tearing down to create more plots and make town bigger.

 

OP may have been wrong in his assumption that towns do not work together, but he actually has something here. It would be interesting to implement "town quests", if you will. Let's say that there a set few tasks that a town can aspire to complete and when they reach these goals, they are rewarded.

E.g.

Task: Town A must work together with at least 30 unique builders to build a great construction (approved by staff) and in return they get say 20 free bonus plots in an area of their choosing.

This idea needs a lot of refining and is definitely low priority, but some great things could come of it.
