    Make a safezone, a wall, place dirt, to make bridges or safety edges.. etc etc

    You could join a town that wants something really cool built :) but just build something basic and store ur important stuff in chests etc build urself a border keep it well lit and you should have no problem with monsters. Keep food + a sword maybe some armour aswell just incase.

    Here :) something like this :p just a basic house in the middle for safety. and mark your border with Palisade (Wooden planks + fence) make sure its high enough so no monsters can get in, keep it well lit and then just build your amazing thing inside of that. Extend your border as and when you need to. Put doors in if needbe. Single ones or multiple ones up to you :p Make it secure and well lit.
