    Did you know a trapdoor entrance can be a one way door, trapping someone inside with the new 1.9 changes.

    In this pic we cannot fit into the entrance as it is.

    [IMG]

    Here the entrance is now accessible, by stepping onto the one trapdoor that is down. Once on the trapdoor we can now open the one above it and walk into the building.

    [IMG]

    However, once inside, we are stuck. Open and close the trapdoors all you want, not getting through...

    [IMG]

    This is a nice troll for your minecraft noob friends. heh.

    Did you know, the new end rods in 1.9 have a sneaky trick to them that will give parkour lovers nightmares;

    [IMG]

    6 jumps to get to the top end rod. However, getting onto the first end rod is harder than it looks. Only one way to fit into that space between end rods, using shift.

    Once on the first end rod it is just a normal jump to the wall piece, after opening the trapdoor to get it out of your way. From there a normal jump to the next end rod and use shift to fit into the gap while still in mid air or you will fall every time.

    Now on the middle end rod, close the trapdoor and do a normal jump onto the trapdoor. Then jump straight up, open the trapdoor, and land on it's edge. From here it is just a normal jump onto the 3rd end rod.

    The end rods are so close together that if you try to jump while in-between them, there will be absolutely 0 animation of movement. Same if you hold and release shift, no animation - very tight squeeze. Which would make jumping from between them seem hard, but it is not actually- just do a normal move forward and jump when at the end.

    Gameplay from the 1.9 world:

    I came up with a nice walkway design that Incorporates the new path blocks- obtainable by right clicking a grass block with a shovel, similar to using a hoe on dirt blocks.

    Here is simple way to grow crops. Easy to build, and easy to use.

    [IMG]

    1 dispenser, 1 repeater, 1 pressure plate, 1 water bucket/ice, 2 redstone torches, 8 redstone wire. 1 dirt (tilled). Any building blocks.

    Start by placing the dirt, then have water directly behind the dirt, (till the dirt). Place the dispenser on top of the water, facing the dirt. Fill dispenser with bonemeal, place pressure plate in front of dirt.
    Then place a wire under the block that the pressure plate is on, follow that with a torch on the block under the dirt that is next to the wire. Now place a wire in front of that torch.

    Next put a block after the lit wire, and place a torch on the side the water is on. Continue with 2 wires in front of that torch then turn right and make a circuit to the dispenser. Place the repeater next to the first wire in that path, but make it face the opposite direction. Place a block between the repeater and the lit wire. Set the repeater to a 1 tick delay.

    You are now ready to plant a crop while standing on the pressure plate. Watch it grow so fast, use your fortune tool on it, and plant another.. Rinse and repeat..

    Then build around it, they fit great in walls...

    Here is an easier to make butcher machine using the piston glitch in 1.9;

    [IMG]
    Starting on the left there is a dispenser with a water bucket in it, (you can see part of it just beside the cows). These are adult cows and clicking the button will dispense water to make the cows jump up, (which makes it easier to breed them). When breeding is done, click the button again and the dispenser grabs the water, returning it into the bucket in it's inventory.

    *Do not leave the water on for too long or the babies will drown*

    Next click the second button, (which activates the piston). The piston will pull the babies through itself, (this is the glitch of 1.9 pistons), but not be able to pull the adults due to the block above the piston, ( which is a stair piece on this example). Now the babies are on top of the hopper to the right of the piston.

    When the babies mature into adults they will get burned by the lava and the hopper will collect all the leather and cooked steak.

    Hope this helps. Have fun.

    *adding in my chicken egg catcher*

    [IMG]
    Very simple design of slabs and hoppers. Hoppers can grab items through slabs and this works so well that the chest is full. When first starting to make this you can simply toss eggs through the space between the slabs and the glass until you get so many chickens that it becomes difficult to do so. Eggs for eternity.
    I will play around with this and see if I can automate it one step more to get cooked chicken, feathers, and eggs all in one. However this is so simple to make that I thought it a good idea to share with you..

    Hope this helps, have fun.

    Boats improved in 1.9 update.
    - They keep the color of wooden planks that have been used for crafting.
    - They are as tough as minecarts, they don't break when hitting an obstacle, be it a block or a lily pad.
    - They have paddles. Two paddles, one for each hand, profiting from dual wielding. That said, you cannot do anything when paddling, you cannot even eat or look at the map until you stop.
    - They can carry two people, first one has to paddle, second one can do anything - shooting, eating, looking at the map, chatting.
    - You turn by left/right strafe and look around using mouse cursor.

    The most useful change is the durability - you just dont have to worry about hitting anything, and building waterways for easy travel makes much more sense. Placing water (10 Dei per block) with good technique (bucket to every second block, and water fills the empty ones) costs the same total amount as placing rails (5 Dei per block), so you can think about making water tunnels instead of underground railway.
    Driving the boat has its pros and cons - you can look around while travelling full speed in straight line, however you cannot use any item until you stop.
    PvP people can try some sea battles - even DeityWar could be interesting with boats (seeing a map being cluttered with abandoned boats is interesting as well).

    I did managed to be able to cook chicken automatically from egg to in the chest. First I needed to make a platform for the egg capturing using the method I posted previously with slabs and hoppers. Those hoppers feed the bottom of the 2 dispensers, so eggs into bottom dispenser.

    While the dispenser has even a single egg in it the comparator next to the dispenser will give off a redstone signal which turns off a redstone torch on the other side of the block that the comparator is touching. That redstone torch is what turns off a redstone repeating circuit like the one I explained in a previous post for crops. So, when the dispenser has an egg the redstone repeating circuit activates which dispenses the egg, and a bucket of lava from the above dispenser. The repeating circuit has 2 ticks per comparator interrupt. This allows the above dispenser to retrieve the lava it placed.

    The lower dispenser shoots the eggs into the half slab. The egg breaks first, before an entity, (baby chicken) appears, and this is important because this way there is no collision between entities so we can stack up baby chickens until the cows come home. Stupid cows wandering off like that, ugh...

    Now we have babies standing in front of the dispenser, on the slab. When they mature into adults the lava will cook them just perfect, not too much, not too little. The hopper below catches the product of course and we feed the masses without doing more than opening a chest.

    This works 100% of the time, but once in awhile 2 eggs will arrive at just the right interval to cause the lava to stay and not be grabbed. this will eventually correct itself when it does the same thing again. I have tried just leaving lava above the slab, but I never once got product from the burning chickens. The chickens would go upward in their death animation, which cooked all the products. Had something to do with how they would appear and if lava was always there the chickens could not move away from the initial placement, something like that. all I know is this works, and the other didn't.

    When the lava is above the babies, you can not see their eyes, the tops of their heads are in lava. You can not say that they did not see it coming. So, ya - once you get the mob of chickens making eggs for you on the big platform, the rest does itself.

    have fun and happy building.

    *NO BABIES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS CHICKEN KILLING MACHINE*

    *sorry, can not make a comparator on ImDeity in /nine - no nether access. Need quartz*

    I have been visiting some towns lately and I have seen a lot of crop fields, which is great, but they just need a little more;

    [IMG]
    The easiest thing is to place lily pads on each water block. When I used to harvest my crops a lot of it would end up in the water, and I would have to go down in there to get my stuff. Then I figured this out and have been doing it ever since, where needed. So fast and I get all the things.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Did you know that powered rails and red stone are not required when going for the travel on mine cart for 1k blocks achievement? This will make you travel at full speed as though there were powered rails.

    First you will need a dispenser - easy to cheap to make, then 2 mine carts, then 4 normal rails, and 3 building blocks of whatever material does not matter, and finally 1 button.

    [IMG]

    set up like this and click the button two times to place both mine carts on the same single track. Once both carts are on the track, break everything around them. Only leave the 2 carts and the rail they are on then add 3 more rails to form a circle;

    [IMG]

    Now just get in and hold w for a few seconds, until the carts are at full speed, then sit back, relax while the achievement comes.

    The carts are continuously colliding with each other, which makes them speed up all the time. No red stone, no powered rails. This also works in a straight line if you have the rails for it. The carts will continue on at full speed forever, even up hills.

    This has been compared to a side by side double mine cart vs powered mine cart vs non powered demonstration video - and it truly keeps at full speed forever.

    [IMG]

    Have fun and I hope this helps.

    *If left alone after getting off the ride, it will continue to run forever. you will need to break it, or you can slow it down* have an animal hop in for a fun ride.

    Here is a fun thing to do with the piston glitch in 1.9 and creepers that I myself would never play with in a survival environment, that would be like a child holding nitroglycerin.

    Begin with a hole in the ground 3 blocks deep so you can place the piston facing downward. While standing under the piston, place the dispenser at foot level next to you and put a redstone wire on it. Make note that the pressure plate on the surface will be directly above this redstone wire.

    [IMG]

    Here i have placed a button on the block that the pressure plate will be activating, as a convenience for getting a good pic. The timing here works great. First the piston goes down and then the creeper is fired in.

    When the piston retracts the magic happens;[IMG]

    Now that you understand the mechanics behind it, let's get a little sneaky shall we;

    [IMG]

    With cobble being so easy to come by, why not use it as furnaces for a floor and ceiling pattern that will match the pattern of the bottom of the piston block. With a close eye one can notice the pattern is 180 degrees rotated from furnace pattern and piston pattern, and that is the only difference.

    This works on the ceiling as well, the result is creeper takes minor fall damage. The redstone signal will transfer through the furnace block, otherwise this would not be so sneaky, lol.

    Imagine the walls are not made of stone, and the rest of the house or mansion is actually finished.

    When someone steps on that pressure plate all willy nilly thinking it is nothing each and every time, there's gonna be explosions, and who does not want to push buttons on ceilings, you know who?

    Have fun with this one, if you can.

    Did you know there is a new piston elevator idea derived from the piston glitch in 1.9?;

    [IMG]
    This pic shows how to start the bottom floor. Easy enough with one repeater and 2 redstone wire, and a red stone torch. The redstone torch is what will trigger the next floor, and this repeats for however many floors you have.

    The second and every floor after is made the exact same way. 1 redstone wire above the torch then a block with a redstone torch on the other side. Next is a repeater, (1 tick delay), then 2 redstone wire, then 3 repeaters all set at max tick delay, and finally a red stone torch on the side of the block that the last redstone repeater is touching. (It is on the other side as for each floor that torch will alternate sides). It takes all those repeaters set the way they are to be able to have the timing work without fail. Even 1 tick change and the timing will not work and we get stuck in the elevator. The floor above piston needs to be coming down as we are being lifted by the piston we are at to be able to continue on upward, otherwise we just bump into it and go nowhere.

    [IMG]
    This just shows that the redstone torch alternates sides for each floor it goes up and the red stone circuit follows along. In the background there is a 21 floor elevator that has not missed a beat. Which is surprising to me as redstone usually glitches once in awhile. At this time my tests on the piston glitch elevator is 100%, never missed being grabbed and lifted, (once i got the tick delay set right) I had set up a slime block piston elevator next to it and had it going 3 jumps high, but it was extremely inconsistent, so much so that I tore it down.

    [IMG]
    From the front the elevator is 3 blocks wide and with the glass it is 7 blocks deep. The materials in my hot bar are all that is required to make this, of course choosing your own building block and or glass. This will fit nicely into any build.

    While slow it is very reliable, possibly the most reliable elevator in MC. No you can not choose to stop on any given floor - this is a one way elevator - it only lifts.

    Now I go back to the drawing board to find a way to make an elevator to go down, this should be possible however getting the first piston to grab us from below is proving to be a challenge. There is no timing involved for that - it is a matter of us standing on the part that needs to go through us but it won't while we are standing on it. (Just use a pool of water at the bottom and jump off) certainly easier and requires less materials.:)

    If you want to try this for yourself you will need to be in MC 1.9 or higher. I think this works in the 1.9 /nine server on ImDeity, unless the blocks are not updated yet, in which case the pistons would not have the glitch required to do this.

    I have been testing this in 1.10.2 creative single player.

    I hope this inspires you builders and helps everyone - have fun and build well.

    *worthy of note - while in the elevator and being lifted, you can jump, fly, hold shift, move around, spin, whatever you like - the elevator will still work while you try to make it mess up*

    good news, I have found a way to select a floor for the elevator - but only up to floor 8. You can select from 1-8 and it will stop on the selected floor, still no method of making this elevator work in the downward direction.

    [IMG]

    [IMG]
    This is done by using sticky pistons to interrupt the redstone circuit for the elevator. In this pic you can see that floor 2 is selected as there is a signal strength of 2 coming from the comparator. There is nothing needed done on the first floor as it will always be in use no matter what floor is selected. Notice that on the second lit redstone wire, the circuit goes to a sticky piston that is now powered, which is lifting a block into the second floor redstone cicuit, completeing the signal to the lifting piston for that floor. All the above floors work the same way, using a sticky piston to interrupt/complete the redstone circuit to the lifting pistons depending on what floor is selected.

    All the other sticky pistons on the remaining above floors are retracted, interupting the circuits so that it stops lifting on floor 2. This does make the elevator a lot larger, no longer a slim 3 blocks wide.

    [IMG]

    Hope this helps, happy building.

    I tried my best to explain it in the post above that one (post #111). It shows and explains how to make the elevator, so in this latest post I only added the floor select part.

    Here is a redstone clock set up that keeps real time. Once started this clock will run continuously and the redstone blocks can be used to power a real time clock structure if someone was inclined to do so. I watched my clock on the wall intently while listening to the pistons and this set up was keeping up second for second to the clock for a solid 2 minutes. So in time with the clock on the wall that I am boasting it to be a real time redstone clock.. The redstone lamps are not necessary, they were in my inventory at the time, (any block that will allow a redstone current through it will do). The repeater settings is key, obviously. Each side of the clock has 3 repeaters, the first being set to 3 ticks, the next in line set at 2 ticks and the final one set at 4 ticks. To start the clock place a redstone block on a piston and then break it.

    [IMG]

    With the heart of a real time clock A town can have it's own real world clock tower or what have you. I hope this help.

    I have not tested it beyond 2 minutes real time. If someone builds this and finds it is not real time, please let me know so i can change my statement - thank you all.

    Did you know there are 2 person boats in Minecraft now? With the help of our long time friend Rupert we can have a passenger with us on a boat. Often times if you leave your boat and come back some time later you may find a passive mob or even 2 have taken residence in your boat. I have had 2 chickens help themselves to one of my boats while I was out slime hunting. So it appears that when in the boat - they are somewhat confused as to how to get out. This is just what we need.;

    [IMG]
    Get yourself a Rupert in the boat, (easier if you are in the water). I used a dispenser and a pig egg and spawned it in next to the boat - he went in to the boat voluntarily. Then just saddle him and your done. One person can click the boat and drive it, the other can ride Rupert and be able to see in 360 degrees. which the boat driver cannot. Great for river riding as the passenger can be the sniper. New mini game where the passenger has to shoot targets while the boat driver has to navigate a difficult course, all in the fastest time with most targets hit. sounds like multiplayer battle fun. The new hunger games, lol

    Here is a look at some items that can give us a redstone signal when using comparators. Comparators create a signal when the state of the block it is watching changes. The comparator does not need to be directly adjacent to the item it is checking either, it can be 2 blocks away if a block is between them;

    [IMG]
    from left to right;
    any item in a chest, hopper, dispenser, dropper, furnace will be detected by a comparator. putting in an eye of ender changes the end portal block, a disc in a juke box, water in a cauldron, and any item that can go into a brewing stand, including an empty bottle. The furnace can have 2 comparators watching for different states, one to see if any item is in the furnace, and another to see if any item has been cooked, (the comparator watches a chest under the furnace of which a hopper is removing the cooked item and placing into the chest)

    These are all possible keys to opening secret rooms. Worth noting is that a hopper can go under the cauldron and grab item thrown into the cauldron. This can be done using a store setup so that only the right item will go through the hopper to trigger a redstone signal. A hopper can also pull bottles from a brewing stand, full or empty so again this can make a nice key.

    Some of these can be inverted to detect the opposite state of a block. A chest can be made to send a signal when it is empty, and so on. Simply done by adding a redstone torch to the circuit to change the circuits state.

    Hope this helps, happy building.

    auto melon and pumpkin farms live again in a new version thanks to some updates in 1.10. Did you know that we can push items through dirt blocks and into hoppers using pistons? Hooray.:)

    [IMG]
    A simple redstone circuit that activates the piston once a melon or pumpkin grows. Once activated the melon or pumpkin will be pushed into the hopper at a 90% success rate, better than previous versions. Water is optional, but I have it in place for the benefit of all of you. This fits into a 4X4 area and is stack able vertically using the redstone torch as the vertical signal as well. Vertical stacking uses a lot of hoppers to bring the product down to the chest.

    Hope this helps, happy building.
