Shop Restocking

I know that there is a list of available items in shops, that are stocked, but I think there needs to be a requirement for shops. I think there should be a rule that if you don't keep your store stocked for five days, then your store should be up for sale, so people have incentive to keep it restocked. I find too many stores without items that they are supposed to sell, and it is making me very angry, and maybe the admins and moderators need to make some items less rare, like nametags or saddles, or non-craftable items. Please tell me what you think!

 

So what you are saying if I have a shop which I paid say 40,000 dei for and I go on holiday for a week and at the start of my holiday someone buys my things it gets closed and sold? Would you suggest this in a town if the staff are inactive for 5 days? and though items are easy to get by either finding a dungeon asking in /trade, or from the mall which you can check online to see who has it in stock

 

Sharpy has a point, some shops should have been auctioned half year ago.

As you can see, saddles, for example, are sold out in all shops. You have to find one in a dungeon, get it by being lucky when fishing, or ask other players in game if they can sell one. You don't have to wait for merchants to restock.

would be nice if at least one shop would sell pre-made things. IE: chairs, fence, ladders, gates, furnaces, beds, signs, and the list goes on...

 

Shop owners can cramp about 50 different goods into their shops, so they decided to choose more profitable items. I will rather offer 5 chests with different kinds of logs than 30 chests with wooden items.

 

I had no idea it was that expensive. But there definitely needs to be some rules on restocking stores, like maybe once every one and a half week. I still think it's ridiculous that no one keeps their stores stocked.

 

These sorts of items don't tend to sell well from what I've heard. When I was a supplier for a few merchants, people generally wanted raw materials they could turn into anything rather than defined goods. Generally stuff that would take a long time to gather in bulk, even if it was easy to get.

But I do agree with the original message of the thread. I'm almost afraid to sell to mall shops because I could possibly bankrupt half the merchants there!

 

This is pretty much summarized in detail on my server improvements petition (http://petitions.moveon.org/sign/imdeity-more-voting-sites?source=c.em&r_by=14544212). I run into this problem also, especially when I'm needing stone for road projects (flashback to December when I completed the road loop encirciling the capital), I would usually beg people in /trade to sell me stone or I request a couple active shop owners to restock some of it in their spare time. In my plan, it shows that if a player is inactive for 30 days (going with the existing 30-day inactive eviction rule in towns that has been on the server for a very long time), they would lose their shop and it would go up on the list for the next shop auction. Shop auctions would also happen more frequently, and not rarely as it has been. My proposals would bump up the frequency of the shop auctions to the first day of every month (so there would be a shop auction on February 1st, then March 1st, etc.) The inactive shops are on this auction pool and people bid in a timeframe similar to what it is now for shop auctions. This improvement would give players who definitely want a shop a chance to get one, and are more likely to keep their shop stocked compared to the inactives who currently own shops.

 

I just think that the malls need to be auctioned of in the summer or spring break when lots of people are on
