It has been over a year since I received a well-deserved ban for my many wrongdoings, and an apology for my actions is long overdue. These acts affected the server as a whole and, by extension, every player on it. I want you all to know that I am sincerely sorry for having negatively impacted your experience on this server and in this community.

The series of events that lead up to me being banned began with me essentially giving someone a step-by-step guide on how to perform a duplication glitch as it had been brought up in a conversation we were having. This was someone who was extremely problematic on the server in the past and I was well aware of that, which makes it even worse that I carelessly gave away such abusable information to them. This person quickly began to exploit the glitch on the server and also invited someone else to come and help speed up the process. These two proceeded to duplicate massive amounts of items and flooded the market with them, primarily by selling these items to player-owned shops at the mall. Many shop owners came on to find their chests filled with illegitimate items and their balances drained, with one player being targeted especially hard, and this was entirely my fault. All of this could have been prevented if I hadn’t made the grave mistake of sharing the information I did with anyone other than an admin, and at the very least I could have, and should have, helped staff to mitigate these two’s efforts by providing them with additional details on what was happening. What I did resulted not only in many shop owners losing lots of money, but it also tainted and harmed the integrity of the server’s economy. I am terribly sorry for being responsible for all of this, exceptionally so to those of you who were directly impacted by it—both the players who lost money, and the staff team who had to deal with and clean up the mess that was created.

As if that wasn’t enough, I had also decided to make a return to the server (after having been on a break for several months) while all of the exploiting was happening. This was intended to antagonize and annoy by flaunting and confirming that I was indeed involved with the duping that was being carried out by people associated with me and that had begun shortly before I started coming online again. This was an incredibly immature gesture I was making. I was practically begging for a ban, and that’s exactly what I was given. I exhibited unacceptable behavior, and I apologise to those of you who took notice of my obnoxious display.

Some time after I was banned, Mojang introduced the ability to change your Minecraft username. The same day this was implemented, I chose to rename one of my alternate accounts and came back onto the server. I casually played and evaded my ban for three weeks before I was discovered and banned again. This was wrong for me to do because by circumventing my original ban I was disrespecting the decision Deity had made and the punishment he had given me. It was another mistake I should not have made.

Needless to say, I’ve been a rather nasty person and a terrible community member in the past—there is no denying that. However, I can honestly say that I have changed, as a person, for the better. Looking back and reflecting on what I did I feel a sense of shame and regret for having been so bothersome, especially to people who had been nothing but good to me. Since then I have matured and realized just how horrible I had been, as I not only caused the trouble I did, but I also did it for all the wrong reasons. I am well and truly sorry to everyone in this community for my past actions.

Although I understand the odds of me being permitted back onto the server are poor due to the severity and number of my infractions, I would be extremely grateful for one last chance to be a part of this community. This would not be an opportunity I would throw away, and I know it is one I am now capable of handling responsibly. I guarantee there would be no more troublemaking or tiptoeing of the boundaries set by the rules if you were to be generous enough to grant such a chance in spite of my history. I really do miss this community, and I hope you will consider allowing me to rejoin it.

    Hi there Smartness,

First of all, I have to thank you for making a sincere and well-written ban appeal, it is really appreciated.

I've talked with you outside the forums concerning this whole situation, and understood both there and in this post that you changed for the better. By considering the reason why you were banned the first time, it made the decision difficult for deciding if you would be unbanned or not. I've talked with Deity, alongside other moderators to have a second opinion on this whole story, and you will be able to return on the server, but all this for a price; I've sent you a message about this.

Just remember, this is your one and only chance, don't waste it.

    ~Ban appeal approved
