Cilja's 1 year thingy

1 Year on ImDeity - Wait what? Are you serious?

I can't believe this day has come. Today is my 1 year anniversary on the server.
When I randomly decided to join a server, I never imagined I would be here this long.

Brace yourself, long post is long

In March 2014, I finally bought Minecraft after having watched some YouTubers play it. I liked the game, but for the first three months, I only played Single Player, on Peaceful. I would switch to easy mode for a short while, chicken out and hurry to switch back to peaceful.

One this day, in June 2014, I decided I wanted to try to join a server. So I googled Minecraft servers, and found a server top list where ImDeity was listed. I also watched some YouTube videos about ImDeity. It looked good, so to Imdeity.com I went.

I joined the server and spent my first moments on the server exploring parts of the Capital castle, I then went to the Portal island, read all the signs twice (probably more than twice...), bought some food and tools, and went to /wild to build a house for myself. I was terrified of doing anything that would be considered griefing, and felt bad for grabbing a few blocks of dirt from a nearby hill. I realized I needed some wood, and went to /mine. When I returned from mine, I naturally wanted to get back to where I was building, and went to /wild again, thinking it would take me to the same area. When that failed, I figured that I would have to join a town.

On the portal page, I looked at the different towns, but chose Doha, because it looked popular.
Yes. That was the reason.
While waiting for being accepted into town, I had my first death. I accidentally jumped of a roof in the capital area.
My most common death method: Death by falling. Or death by failing at landing on safe ground.
I still fail at landing on stuff, but having fly on saves me from dying all the time.

After a day or less, Yogs accepted me to the town, and I was happy!
I went to the town spawn, explored it a bit, read the information signs and asked to get a plot. I felt a bit ignored at first, and while waiting for someone to respond, I went to explore a couple of the warps. I experienced my first ever death by mob at the Downtown area of Doha. I can't remember whether if was a skeleton or a creeper. Or both. I might have died twice there...
Asdfjkll finally responded and told me to come to Kuiper, where he got me my first plot. I couldn't remember the way from the warp at first, so he had to guide me a few times. He watched me start building my house, and rescued my stuff when a creeper exploded behind my back.

After building my house, I needed something to do, so I started helping Asdfjkll with road building. I kept on helping, and later applied to become town staff. I became Assistant, and later Senior Assistant of Doha.

*Fast forward to map reset*

When the server was reset, I knew I still wanted to be in Doha. So I joined again, and was again promoted to senior assistant. I had conflicting wishes for myself, I wanted to be craftsman, and I wanted to be a noble to logblock stuff. So I went ahead and got myself my first alt, Cilja. I had Cilja join doha at first, and made it my craftsman account. But when Haydo asked me if I wanted to join and help with his new town, Oslo, I had Cilja switch towns. It has been fun building and seeing Oslo grow.
Then it was time for shop auctions, and I had thought about getting a shop, so when the Purple ones went up, I bid on, and won a shop. Purple 7 became mine. But this also meant Cilja had to become a merchant, and I was again left without craftsman abilities.
I was fine with this for a while, but I eventually got myself a 2nd alt, AlmaCon. Again, I made Alma join Doha, and made the account a craftsman. Asdfjkll asked me to join his new town, Bluewater, So I had Alma join that town, and became Senior Assistant there.

At this point, I told myself that I was not going to get any more alts. I didn't need any. I was wrong...
Not many of you know about this, but two weeks ago, I got myself a 3rd alt. Tufsla.
I had been thinking about creating a town of my own, but I didn't want to leave any of the towns I was in.
So I decided to get Tufsla, and then I created my own town, Tussilago.

Phew. That's pretty much my entire life story on ImDeity...

@ImDeity – Thanks for the amazing server. Thanks for saving my horse that one time too.

@Asdfjkll – I spy an asdfjkll! You gave me my first plot in Doha. In the Kuiper area. You were helpful and saved me and my stuff from creeper deaths a few times. Later you let me help with road building, which led to me becoming Assistant in Doha, and later Senior Assistant. You introduced me to ftb2 too, and I've had a great time there. We've built lots of roads together, lots of Metford houses and other projects. You are great at organizing and finishing the projects you start! Thanks for making me Sr.Assistant of Bluewater too, it's fun seeing the town grow.
I might not always follow your guidelines (Like that time I used birch planks instead of dark oak for floors in Metford ) but I enjoy your company, and it makes me happy seeing you online.

@The_Yogs – Thanks for accepting me to Doha! I remember you were tossing a pile of diamond tools at me when I joined, and I wasn't sure you were joking or not. Being afraid of accidentaly griefing/stealing, I had to ask why you were tossing them at me Thanks for the tools! Thanks for making me Senior Assistant of Doha, both last map and after the reset.
You were the one who introduced me to TeamSpeak, I had never heard of the thing before that.
It was nice meeting you in Paris in January. You are a great guy!

@HaydoJ – I think we met when we were working on the Carrollbayou area in previous Doha. You are fun, and nice. I keep having to remind myself of your age, you appear more grown up than a lot of people I've met. Thanks for letting me be part of Oslo. And thanks for becoming the first resident of Tussilago.

@Niall – NIALL! You are awesome, Niall. You build great stuff.

@BarryX15 – Thanks for all the help, inspiration and helpful tips! I value your opinions. I don't find you grumpy at all.

@Sephronia – Hi Seph! I didn't talk much to you before, only the occasional Hi when you were *Glancing in*. Earlier this year, you were talking about your town in chat, and I went there to have a look. First, you had me and the other ones who came looking, “trapped” on the spawn spot, but then later you opened up the spawn and let us roam around a bit. I stayed, and watched you dig out a lot of stone. And I watched you build a staircase. I picked up the stuff you dropped, and made sure to return it all to you. Later, when you had set the spawn private again, I came flying back to New_Haven, wanting to have a better look at your town. Sorry for scaring you by shearing a sheep near you.
I watched you build most of your farm house. Then you wanted to move the entire house a bit, and I figured you wouldn't mind getting some help moving it, so I started helping you. I've helped out more in New_haven since then. With the bank, your farm, your storage area, council chamber, stairs and hallways, town hall expansion etc. Thanks for letting me help out in New_haven. Thanks for letting me join your group in the new ftb too. I enjoy building the house with you. Thanks for teaching me about the Tinker's tools.

@Vershye – Thanks for adding music to my music playlists by having your VershBot running. Thanks for running movie nights too! Thanks for doing rollbacks when they have been needed. You also deserves a thankyou for letting me join your ftb gang.

@QazzSparkles – You are fun and a great builder. Thanks for inviting me to join your area in ftb!

@Btarb24 – You are a lot of fun. There have been a few killer rabbits, and escaped pet fishies, a few snowball fights and lots of other laughable matters . And your New_Haven lawn art is great Thanks for inviting me to help with Creative testing.

@Heinz_Gruber – I just started talking to you earlier this year, and I agree with you, It would have been great meeting earlier! You are a great guy, (and a great builder!) and you make me smile I'm looking forward to meet you at Minecon in July!

I cannot believe it took us this long to get talking, but i am very pleased to of met you because you are a very nice person, a skilled player, and practically the definition of the type of player that is always going to be welcome no matter what.

I feel so happy that you gave me a mention, so thanks for that, but also i am extremely delighted to be able to meet you at mine-con.
I am sure it will be an adventure that we will remember for the rest of our days xD

Happy one year Cilja! I'm so glad that you've stuck around for so long, and I'm really delighted that you do like spending so much time with us and all, even if we can be a little overwhelming. I hope you can enjoy looking back on this year while preparing for more to come
