    Hello Deityans,

Now, this isn't going to apply to the majority of players, however, to those of us that it does apply to, this idea would be quite helpful.

    Portal ledgers:

As a rank two merchant who owns a shop, I have to deal with a decent amount of spam. Be it through people mass-buying/selling to/from us, or from the daily mail that we get telling us constantly how much our shops have made (or in some cases, haven't made). Examples are as follows:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Above is simply in game messages received. What follows is mail.

Now, not only can all of this can be quite tedious to deal with, but chat-spamming messages like the ones showed above can prevent players from seeing potentially important information (be it given by a staff member or a fellow player). So, this is why I'm making this post.

My general idea is that players who are first and second rank Merchants should have a page somewhere on the portal that gives us the option to see there, as opposed to in game, who has bought/sold said items from us, how many units of said item they've bought/sold, and the transaction amount. Also, if said person has bought/sold in bulk, in a side column, the number of times each transaction happened.

For example (just a "guesstimate" of how it may look. Example based off of prices in my shop)

Any actual chart used would include a bit more information, however this is just to provide a general idea of what I'm thinking. There would also be a ledger for Rank 2 and Rank 1 Merchants with a similar layout for auctions.

Along with said new ledger, if there were any sales the player would then be notified on the hour mark if the ledger has been updated (any items bought from or sold to an individual player's shop) within the past hour.

That's all for my suggestion, so please respond if you believe there is anything I've missed that would also be a good addition to this suggestion.

    Thank you for reading,
    Qazz

    Hi Qazz and Deitians,

As a shop owner myself, I would like to comment and state my opinion on this.

Truthfully it doesn't annoy me as much as Qazz but this is a great suggestion to add to portal.

The reason it doesn't annoy as much though is because I don't sell in small amounts like Qazz however if you want to sell in small amounts you should able to without getting the spam. Also that doesn't stop someone clicking loads when it out of stock and the problem is you don't know who doing it unless you go to the shop to tell them to stop clicking.

Mail - It nice to know how much you sold a day and how much tax however it soon fills up your mail box if you don't want to delete. I got 502 mail and at least around 95% to 99% is Deitytax.

I would say ledger is a much cleaner, better and more improved way for shop owners to run the shop.

    Advantages -
    • No spam and annoyance ingame
    • Can keep a better record of all your sales and items by seeing what items you sold, how much you got for it, etc which can improve your shop profits and what items you should sell more of.
    • You know who buying when your offline - Get to know your customers
There likely more advantages others can state that I not aware of.

    Disadvantages -
    • Check portal all the time to see sales, etc instead of getting the usual notification when ingame.
    • Talk to the customer as soon as they buy it. (When I am ingame I say thank you to most people after they bought or sold something)
    • If it doesn't update right away, wait for a bit as well sometimes (Hopefully would update like the mall prices - every 5 minutes or so)
These are not bad disadvantages, shop owners can cope with that and find alternatives. The advantages win by far.

Qazz example is a good example of what it should look like. Just maybe add a tax column to see how much tax you had pay? It be nice to know tax on items to work out how much I can buy an item for and still make profit.

I hope this gets approve since it will benefit alot for shop owners.

At moment this is all I got say and will edit or post another reply if got any more ideas or comments. :)

    Kind Regards
    Gawkan

Such and addition would benefit those like me who have items that are sold in their shop that are better sold in smaller amounts.

Also, I don't really mind the mail as much, it can be nice to know what your shop has made in each day, however this is something that can also be added in with the ledger.

Thank you for the response Gawkan :)

I like the idea. It would be very nice for merchants because it shows which items should to be focused on.
Most merchants aren't online to track every transaction and the daily mail doesn't provide any useful information - about specific items sold.

    On a side note:

It happens much more often than that, however those are the only occasions I've screenshotted. It can be quite a bother, hence this post.

I totally agree with the idea of a shop ledger, But in addition i would suggest the ability to delete more than 1 mail at a time in the Portal inbox. As mayors get daily mails, shop owners get tons of mails. And it is extremely tedious deleting 1000 messages 1 at a time (Via the forums), this should be an easy fix.

Also, I feel as though a ledger would benefit Merchants who have arrangements with Craftsmen for things such as enchantments so that they're able to better tell what has been sold and how much dei to give the Craftsmen after tax and whatnot.

I would also personally endorse this idea but for mayors. Similar to the /t ledger (I think that's the command lol) a town ledger should be put on the forums for mayors and lord assistants that says how much was deposited into town that day, how much was withdrawn, taxes put in and taken out, plots claimed and put up for sale, residents added that day and maybe some other stuff. I also like this idea for merchants although it doesn't apply to me whatsoever xD

I've always waited for merchants to go off line before buying/ selling lots of items from them just to avoid spamming them. Also, I would love a way to bring the town ledger into a forum convo. It could have helped my town last map with some of our money problems.

I also really like the idea of having a town and merchant ledger on the portal. Seeing statistics like item most sold or bought, as well as what makes you the most dei would be very helpful. Unfortunately it is my understanding that because only deity has the ability to work on the portal, these features may take some time; there are many more important things that need work, such as mining world perms, and upgrading other servers to 1.8 (such as creative and pvp).
