Pfew, the Netherlands vs Costa Rica was nerve wrecking and tiring.
Kudos to Robben whose stamina never seems to run out, omg what a guy.

I know I am biased, being Dutch, but I think we deserved the win (even though it via a penalty shoot-out). Costa Rica never really came into the game and almost never created good chances, except for the 117' minute chance.
Apparently the Dutch created 14 chances, and I am quite pissed that we did not score with so many chances. I have to say that the keeper of Costa Rica is very good and the defense played decent as well, since they only played in a defensive manner anyway. It is a shame that Costa Rica never really went for it, it would have been an amazing game if they did.

I am glad they changed the keeper for the penalty shoot out, even though Cillessen is a decent one. Just made the Costa Ricans more unsure and on top of that the Krul guy was taller and more intimidating, which is always better for such scenarios imo.

So now the Netherlands vs Argentina! Exciting but also dreadful. I would have loved a semi-final the Netherlands vs Belgium. I hope we will win the semi-final, but I guess we just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Robin Van Persie had a poor game, most other games he would have put his chances into the net. Robben is always full of stamina and always looks like the best player for them, but he really needs to stop diving. The Dutch deserved to win for sure, and I'm sure Costa Rica are happy with their performances at this World Cup. At this moment, none of the remaining teams have been consistently impressive, which means it's going to be extremely close, I feel.

Does anyone else think Brazil is out of the competition because of Neymar's injury?

I thought so too, but Löw, the German trainer, said today, that losing the main player might make them even stronger. They all know they have to give more than 100% now. Additionally the drive to win for Neymar can give another reason.

I bet 5 goals in the whole game today at work: 3-2 for Germany... Everyone laughed at the high number of goals, I expected from both teams... not celebrating yet here. But however Miro Klose is new record holder for most goals in WC. :)

It is always noisy here when Brazil's team is playing, now it is just silence. The tv commentators were completely lost, couldn't find what to say, now they are just angry, bashing the coach mostly.

I don't really care for it, I turned on the tv after someone on server said score was 3-0, but I think this loss can be for good, due to some political reasons I don't think I should go into.

    gg Germany. (Grats Gwen xD)

Thanks for this info, Driver. :) I was wondering. The German commentator expected it all to be Colombia's fault in the Brazilian press. I would like you to keep us updated here how the press reacts by the "little final" when the third place will be found out.

I have to admit I am enjoying this game a lot, however I completetly agree that a closer match is more interesting.

For me it is gratz for Miro Klose, regarding his record holding as best scorer. To Thomas Müller, who gets closer to being top scorer this WC. And of course also to Schürle and Kroos (with two goals each) as well as Khedira (one goal). Our keeper, Manuel Neuer, amazes me a lot and I remember a few years back when Löw got him in the national team and everyone was like: "He is too young!" This guy amazes me every game, it seems easy to catch a ball (even if there was one today he could not keep). :p I am all in ecstasy here. Sorry for so much cheering for the German team here. But since the press and the German public was still complaining about this team and Löw, I am just happy they were proven wrong so far. :)

My bet for tomorrow is: Netherlands 2 : Argentina 1. We will see. And Germany against the Netherlands would be historical. And will prolly give me a hard time with the Dutch colleagues at work (and Arwenden here ;) ) no matter how it ends. :p

Germany is definitely the best team, however there will be a lot of people rooting for Germany's competitor in the final because of how bad they slammed Brazil.

Neymar Jr: We Will be Champions....
    Germany: NOPE

I was horrified by how badly Brazil got stomped. Germany blowing through defenses and scoring 3 goals within 5 minutes. They had a good run but at least they kept at it til the end. In the end Brazil made a well deserved goal for their persistence at least.

Let us come up with some final conclusions about shocking match #61 (1 Brazil - Germany 7):

Known Fact: Germany beat the USA by 1 goal in their final group G match. The USA (ranked 13th) played reasonably well against Germany (ranked 2nd).
Question to be Answered: Why did Brazil lose so badly to Germany after winning previous matches?

    Here are some possible answers:
    1. Fate
    2. Coaching Failure
    3. Early crumble of confidence
    4. A significant variance between both team's experience level
    5. Germans bribing Brazilian Gov't
    6. Germans bribing Brazilian coach
    7. The injury of Neymar
    8. The absence of Brazilian team captain
    9. The loss of Both Neymar and the captain
    10. German teamwork talent somehow burned individual Brazilian talent

Congratulations on your win yesterday, it was deserved but I had to admit I pitied Brazil. In the end I am still glad they scored at least one goal, even though it did not matter at all.
Yes you bet I will give you a hard time, haha! If it comes to Germany vs The Netherlands I will be very annoyed, heh. We first have to win from Argentina tonight and I am not sure whether we will manage. Messi is a good player, although the rest of the team is not that great of Argentina.

But yeah, the Dutchies always lose against Germany. I guess it is a psychological thing, lol.

I think that #2 and #9 and #10 are main reasons.

    For Coaching Failure:
Brazil played barely decent this Cup. They did well but they really didn't all play as a great team. Before, Brazil had 2 teams. The Main Team and the Reserve team(on the bench). Throughout the entire Cup, Brazil barely substituted players. It was always the same team. I see this as the Coach's failure because he didn't train enough players or the fact that the players he did train he didn't train them with the same good potential as the Main Team players have so he couldn't risk substituting his players. By the end of the Match's, their were players that played the entire 90 minutes never being substituted unless injury. In the match when Bernard and Dante replaced the two, they were no where near the skill potential that the other two possessed. They played well but weren't as trained and skilled to replace that gap.

For the Loss of Both Neymar and the Captain:
They were really good players and vital to the team. Givin Neymar being able to break through defenses and Silva being Captain. When Germany made those easy goals agaisnt Brazil, you could see they were shocked but they were also all confused. David was good but he lacked that leadership that Silva had. They were all open and Germany kept blowing through them doing anything they wanted.

German teamwork talent somehow burned individual Brazilian talent:
They all played pro together and that's why they made those goals. The cross passes and passes and aggression for the Goals. They all worked as a team and so did Brazil but they had individual talent. Neymar at Offense and Silva at Captain and the rest of the team with their skills.
