It takes away from the sense of "survival." Heck, vv said something like we wouldn't even have the /go commands if he had his way.

Plus, VIPs donated for exclusive use to /sethome and /home. It's not really fair if that feature was given to everyone.

We don't want to make this survival server less challenging do we?

Why do you think it's a donator perk?

    Disagree.

Even though im not (yet) a VIP, I think that /sethome should be reserved. I feel that having simple privileges for loyal players (like VIP's, and players who work their way up the class system) will allow us to gain a membership of quality players, instead of a large number of fly-by-night players. Building this base of quality, loyal players are what will make this server better than it already is, not having a ton of non-loyal players who join, build a small house, then never log in again.

I'm sorry that you feel that you are being denied /sethome by virtue of not being a VIP member, but then again, its only $12.00USD. If you feel that you like this server, and want to continue to play then perhaps you should donate and then you'll have your /sethome, all for the price of less than a quarter tank of gas!

    Just my thoughts.

If everyone could /sethome there would be ugly buildings everywhere. This way you have to be a part of a town or ready to take a hike every time you want to get home. Towns can be managed a lot easier this way.

Donating gets you /sethome (12 whole dollars) and with that you have the opportunity of building anywhere without hiking every time you /go somewhere.

What if VIP weren't solely based on money. What if Deity created a "Veteran" Tag. I'm sure there are players that have been at it for a year or more. This isn't necessarily a suggestion that I can partake in so far as I've only been an Imdeity-er for about a month. I do think it would be a good Idea to reward longevity, however.

I like the idea of holding off and keeping it only for donators, there are ways around it.. teleporting to a city only costs 5 dei and it's a walk to your house... or, you could donate :p

Or if you're really that worried about it... make your house hidden very well near a /go spot lol boom, no charge. :)

The /sethome function is, at least in my opinion, one of the main reasons someone would donate.
    Donations give the server money.
We can play because server stays up.
    Everyone wins.

No offense guys, but if all you're going to do is come in here to say "Donator perk only", it's not very contributive to the discussion.

I think that sethome only for donators is a jab in the foot of the server; it pretty much forces you to join and teleport to towns to be able to get around, because /go wild isn't reliable at all. It's like whoever made the castle spawnpoint knew it because getting out of there to go somewhere is confusing. However, I have to admit that it's better than prior versions(1.5-1.6 spawn structure was very very confusing).

No offense to you, but I think you are missing the point of donator perks. If donors didn't get something out of donating, most of them wouldn't donate. And if you give one of the biggest donor perk to everyone, what's the point?

I've just donated for the second time, and the main reason I did it the first time was for /home (Though I do love magic carpet now). Running the server is very expensive, and without donors it probably wouldn't survive so well. Of course you could make the argument that donors could get a new perk, but that would just lead to people complaining again later down the road.

Also, if I recall correctly, some of the staff do not like even having /t spawn and the /go commands because they don't fit into the survival aspect of the server, so be glad that we even have those.

In short, people need to stop being self entitled kids, but I'm pretty sure that's always going to be the case with Minecraft.

If everyone had everything that made game play a lot easier and had no need for donator rewards what would keep the server running? With that said I'd say it should remain a vip reward.

/Sethome and /home should remain a VIP perk, because of all the valid reasons above including the fact the server needs the money to keep running, and the ugly buildings prevention... but one more thing I have to add. The fact the bed works EXACTLY like the command, without removing the survival factor. If you're that desperate, join Megaton or some other town and use /t spawn, then walk to your house. Simple as that.

I haven't been on this specific server very long, but I do have a lot of experience with servers. Making /sethome /home free would ruin the donators, even with a new donor perk. Plus wouldn't travel get too easy with /sethome.

If players find it enjoyable and decide to tell friends about the server simply because /sethome became free, that would most likely lead to less donators more free players. Every game needs its income or it won't survive the floods of simplicity.

I think if there was a way to make a /home command for non donors it should have a really long cooldown.

    Possibly like 1-2 days?

i was thinking /sethome /home should be a perk you get for donating but there should be someother way to get it
like paying 50k dei but you dont get it for a month. if you could pay like 50k dei for 1 week of sethome it would be nice.
