/home being reset?

    So, today while playing I attempted to use /home to go to my protection stone'd area on the main map, and to my surprise I got the message "Use /sethome to set a home location first. My question is, why the heck is this happening? I set my home, I used it for quite some time and now it just does not work. Is this supposed to happen?

    Its happened to me about 5 times so far on this map reset.

    This isn't the first time it's happened to me, but it's extremely annoying considering I ran about 2000 blocks from the nearest town to get this land.

    Yes, I am not sure if its widely known about, I complain and whine to the mods I am around whether that message has made it to the higher ups. However, my issues were never super problematic to cause such a havoc as to get it noticed, I just find a new place for my /set home. However, I do think it should be more stable and its possible that is what is worked on or maybe certain updates require that database to be reset. Unsure.

    I can send a note to Deity and/or Btarb to look at it. I've had this issue several times, but again it has been considered a minor bug and I wasn't told anything about it, so I have no other answer than "I will try to get the people who can do something to look at it or figure out if they know about where it falls in the priority list."

    I could be wrong, but as far as i know we use Essentials for our /home command. I just took a brief look through their source code for it but didn't see anything that popped out as a problem. I'll talk with deity about it. If we have our own plugin for homes then i can look at it and potentially work out a solution. However, if we use essentials then we likely just have to endure any slight hiccups it has. I could always whip up a new home plugin to replace that portion of essentials, but that would mean that Everyone would get their homes wiped during the cutover to the new plugin. Being that the problem is so infrequent, it likely isn't worth it to force the inconvenience upon everyone at once.

    Aren't the coordinates of every player subscribed to this plugin saved in a file? If they are couldn't you use that?

    A file or the database, I'm sure if deity had time he could copy them over.


    And btarb - because of the home limit for non donators, I'm thinking we have our own plugin, unless essentials supports a limit as well.

    Yes, I just verified that the essentials /sethome and /home are different than the /sethome and /home that regular players get.

    Especially since /home has that annoying 5 second delay still. My theory is that it resets /sethome after you use /home 20 times. But I've never tested it.

    I'll confirm it's not time based, because I've had the same /sethome for a few months now, and it has not reset. Though I've used it only maybe 5 times because I rarely need to use it. Just wanted an easy way to get back to something.

    Before that, I do believe my /home reset, as it was set to where the Honey House was, but I couldn't get back there.
