What's your opinion on makeup?

Sorry aha, this seems like a bit of a spontaneous thread. However, lately I've been interested in what peoples' opinions of makeup are.

This interest firstly sprang from one of the girls I live with (of the more gothic agenda) coming home from her school college thingy and complaining about her head-teachers' comments about her eyeliner, thus irritating her a little. I thought initially that it was a bit silly to make comments like this but then again, some people have different ideas.

And as this server has loads of different kinds of people with different ideas, I thought it would be cool if you give your opinion.

So yeah what's your opinion on makeup,

Its fine, dont mind girls wearing it, but what REALLY gets on my nerves is that these girls in my 6th grade class wear so much eye shadow, they look like a ghost.

 

Don't particularly like it, mainly because a lot of the girls in my year look like they smothered mud on their faces.

 

I love it! I use it all the time! I use the perfect amount, I never look too crusty nor too cakey It keeps me looking sexy! And the eyeliner, well... do I need to line out where my glamorous eyes are?

I don't see why people have an issue with other people wearing makeup.
Personally, I have growth issues. As in I look like a 10 year old, which isn't cool, so that's the whole eyeliner appeal tbh. It also means I can get into my Sixth Form college without having to get my college pass out.
Ngl, I also like it cause' of that whole gothic look thing and I kinda wear it on every occasion, which is good or bad or something. I mean, it's cool if you don't wear it and it's cool if your face looks like a cheese puff or whatever. It's not like, ok to be preaching about inner beauty when you get all offended when someone has a lot of makeup on, in my opinion anyways.

 

Make up is for correcting imperfections on the face, hiding or highlighting parts of the face. Teenagers have no need for it. I also think people look like clowns when they wear too much of it.

 

Makeup is fine with me, like lego says it is there to correct "imperfections" but putting on a full mask is annoying; you just don't know what you may wake up next to.

too much of anything is annoying to me, gobs of eye makeup sure make the eyes pop more then they would normally, but there is no reason for someone to look like they got punched in the eyes.

I'm not a fan of blush.

I don't think dudes should wear makeup, but then again they are free to do what they want and I won't make a fuss about it because it's not worth the time or effort.

 

I agree with many statements here around the idea of less being more.

Personally, to me makeup is a way to make yourself feel good in some way, whether it be to touch up some rough areas or to do something that involves more make-up. I'm not really one to wear more than a little bit of eye-liner, mostly because I don't like wearing lots of makeup and I feel like I look fine enough without lots even though I've had makeovers with more makeup than I usually wear, and it's still a nice thing to do maybe for special occasions, but never something I would do on a daily basis. People should be allowed to wear makeup in whichever way they please, as long as it's not done in some offensive way(e.g. someone writing a cuss word or rude symbol on themselves).

 

It's cute but when someone wears obnoxious amounts of makeup to the point where they look more like a puppet than a human then it's just nope.avi

(No offense to anyone who prefers to wear large amounts of makeup)

 

Decorating the human body has been a part of our culture for a long time. Be it make-up, tattoos, hair styling and piercings, they help convey an opinion or message visually for others. It is something I would certainly promote to anyone who is comfortable with it as long as it does not inhibit activity outside of socializing.

 

As someone who wears makeup, in large quantities. What are your opinions on what are being said here may I ask?

I like makeup, when it is done well. It should not be too much. Some look really awful, some just great.
What I do not like: little kids at school that look as if Carnival or Halloween.
Otherwise it can look really nice, especially if you have skin problems.
