nickname plugin

we should have a nickname plugin people like me want to change their username though a new minecraft but they cant because of parents. so with the nickname plugin u cant change your name and this should not be just for donors no it should be for everyone. and a other thing I does not clog the chat the nickname is substituted for your username. but they can still be ban because they still have the username just u see the nickname and by doing /realname u can see the real username.

 

Sounds to me like you're just trying to pad your post count with some pretty useless suggestions.

Now, regarding the actual suggestion, this wouldn't work because when someone is needing to be banned, they would just change their nickname and possibly change their identity, preventing them from being banned. If this was done often enough the person would be able to avoid being banned for a long time, unless it was nerfed somehow, like with a cooldown timer. Next point about this, why would you change your username anyway? You chose it when you bought Minecraft, so I doubt anyone would actually find this very useful. Lastly, what does this mean?

What? You can't change your username anyway, so what do you parents have anything to do with it, also with how "they can because of parents."

Are you kidding me? I think this is just an excuse from this. We said it wouldn't work, so you can't just go making shortcut threads. Also, what's the point of this plugin? You don't walk around seeing people say, "I hate my name!". I'm satisfied as Messier, Lup is Lup, Deity's Deity, and so forth. Seriously, and the banned people issue just makes things worse. We never know if they're banned or hiding, then more crime.

I don't have any clue what you're saying. Unless, it's "can't", then I'm out of luck. You're parents have no involvement in your MC username, so why include it?

 

How would a server-side plugin play any role in changing your username?

 

Presumably his parents got him this username for some reason as they were probably shadowing him when he got the account, if not getting it for him. He doesn't like the username his parents got him and wants to have a nickname plugin so he can have a name chosen by him on ImDeity without buying an alt.

 

If its a suggestion for only him, then this is a pretty pointless suggestion.

Valid concerns, however the plugin he's referring to allows has permission nodes for viewing a person's actual username, because all it really is is a mask. It changes the display name, but not the name that is sent to the server behind the scenes.

Now, I don't support the suggestion by any means, because it gets confusing, I just thought I'd clear up some things.

 

Yes, and no. Most of the plugins that do this, change the display name, as hotfries said, the post above me. There is a command (with essentials, it is /whois) to see the full username of a nickname.

I agree, this can be abused, with cursewords, and just trolling. I really think it is not needed.

 

The only reason I want my username changed on THIS site, is so people can tell I am ONE person. I share a Minecraft account with my little sister, but on Imdeity some people think I am 2 people (I can understand why), But I don't hate my name. It's just to avoid confusion.

IP, buddy. Regardless of name, they have your IP.

 

If you donate 50, 100, or 200 dollars to the server you can have a tag next to your name. IMO that is a reasonjable substitute for you problem
