recently ive been taking walks and /wild to get around the word.
every /wild i go to is DEVASTATED im not kidding
the land is tore up and there is unfinished building scattered about
im not sure what can be done but it isn't safe to warp there because of the landscape
being terrible with huge drops and caves
the land there is also being mined for the nearby houses which i know isn't right

    im just concerned

Well, we are not going to have another reset ANYTIME SOON! So for now, deal with it.

I'm not saying we need another reset. I'm saying that people are mining whole area's of sand or trying to mine in general. There is a difference between someone building a house and having a small area where they keep like storage. I've walked decent amounts where an entire area doesn't have sand and you can just see stone. You can tell the difference between something being generated and something being mined for something. I would understand more if they were just flattening the area for a town however they're just devastating the land and leaving it there for other people to deal with if they ever would want that area. Not that I think anyone would want that type of thing now that it's ruined. Like I said before I'm concerned about it cause it can't just be happening to me. It's dangerous enough already with generated caves and then the mobs but to add to it there being land with death-drops because people have been mining there is a bit unfair to everyone. We have the mining world for things like that. I wouldn't even mind it as much if they would keep the land at least semi flat and not have it where it just drops and kills you.

These are two problems mixed together:

First, mining in main world - i know about some deserts where all sand and sandstone is gone, live map shows enough. Some people rather grief deserts on main map, although they should to go to mining world where mobs spawn in hundreds on surface and you have to fight for every block of sand.

Second, noobs in wilderness. We claim to be "family-friendly" server. So we can expect high percentage of kids and not only those who build a house and try to live and survive, but also those who should be moved to PvP world instead of roaming across wilderness. Because -

Possibly an imdeity police department or a side class to the nobles wooden pickaxe idea, because staff cant do it all.

I don't know if this would prove effective or worth the time, but it isn't my choice. They wouldn't do more than tell people to do /mine. The mass sandstone mining in main on the other hand is a major problem in my eyes, as it is mostly done by experienced players that know better. Fortunately, there is a kind of solution. The admins are now able regenerate parts of the map. I am not totally sure as to the parameters, but they may be able to regenerate areas as long as no logs show up for that area(aka nobody has touch it for a month)?

    Thanks,
    Titan

Yeah, it's a shame, but there isn't really anything that can be done. It'll just keep happening over and over, even with a reset or being regulated. One the plus side, I guess it encourages some players to join towns. It certainly made me join one.

Maybe you could organize a volunteer group that goes out and repairs the warp areas ExKita.

Shouldn't we be really redirecting them to /mine rather than /wild? The server keeps mentioning the importance of joining a town for protection and no ores on main, so why are we placing them in some random location in which 1. land gets destroyed as the above is ignored (eg. lots of mines) and 2. Lots of griefed houses.

The main doesn't get reset while /mine does, if they're gonna ruin either wouldn't it be best at /mine? At least you can get rid of that.

Most players are aware of the situation in the /wild, but it is no real issue. It might not look pretty but it serves its cause. It is better to have that devastation in a small area rather than in a larger.

Deity knows about the behavior of new players to the server much better than the rest of us, and this is what he has found to work the best to keep people on the server.

I know one thing that is so tempting about /wild is that there is so much clay,I remember farming clay there when I first joined the server. My noob moment.

I destroyed the sand area just north of Caldera then found out that strip mining in the main world is frowned upon.

Like a good neighbor, I filled in the pit entirely!

The best way to mine sand is to go to /mine and use your /sethome and /home to get to your spot (works best for doners.)

I am noticing exactly what you are describing! It feels like I am porting to the same areas each time I /wild because of the destruction and smashed houses.

Does /wild TRULY send you out to random areas, or are there like 50 programmed areas that you can get sent to at random between the sample?

There are some 80 programmed places. You are randomly teleported to one of them every time you use /wild.

Why would it say it in the rules? Did you not read the part where he said that it's 'frowned upon'? We're not going to stop you, but the only thing you're doing is tearing up the world and making it look like crap for anyone that wants to build in/around that area.

Maybe ImDeity can institute a 50 or 100 block locked zone around each /wild spawn point? This would save people from falling upon porting, and would preserve the area around each point.

It was a bad idea to stripmine the land right next to the city, the city could grow into those areas!

Levi edit: When you reply to several people, just use one reply, it takes up less space and looks less spamey.
