Although I have not much been ignored in game, I have been almost looked down upon by the staff, and for a few others, that just don't have what it takes to be mod (only one at the time). However, people that I talk to, such as Gwen and Versh (whenever he's available) have been very useful. With that being said, though, and without bashing; I haven't seen a good, active staff (including the admins) since 2 years ago. The staff basically consisted of two people; Deity and Vv. They were both very active at that time. Then came moderator sock, or prwraith, I'm not sure which came first. Past that, the names don't matter to me. Because ImDeity in my eyes lessened.

The once polished gem, set aside my little kid fantasies of becoming mod, or assistant of my town, or stupid things like that, had now become tarnished and scratched. If I were able to locate the problem that would solve it all, I'd tell the mods and admins. But when I do find a problem, it's instantly "No, that's not the case". And it all seems fine and convincing, but why do we feel that way? Clearly it's not all happy and dandy in the people's eyes, but you guys sure do make it seem that way when we ask what is going on. That's just my experience, though. It seems like the staff make more excuses than they do brainstorm solutions.

Undoubtedly, some of the things I ask I have been uninformed or misinformed on. I am not talking about those cases. Know you're not doing everything right, and don't say you know you're not, do something about it. When I say the server is getting worse and worse, don't say it's fine, and to stop bashing the server, ask why! And in the cases you do ask why, stop trying to disprove those beliefs. Because CLEARLY what you say is not the case if someone questions it.

I don't mean to be bashful. This is the only MC server I'd play on. Thanks.

Looks to be exactly your point and I told you how to remedy it. Whether your Mayor gets on ts or not doesn't matter. He just lets one of us know to create it for his Town members that do use TS.

I wasn't going to reply on this post but I just get so tired of these useless posts constantly being created.

The server is not "getting worse and worse". The server is just fine. As people have said in multiple other "whoa is me" posts about the server, MC has been around for awhile. Just as in almost every other game, "Veterans" come and go. We get new players to join and become the new "Veterans". Like this one.
The ImDeity server is a LOT more custom than most of the other MC servers out there and therefor needs more loving care from the developers (ImDeity) in order to keep it running smoothly. Updates to plugins happen as they happen because, unlike some people seem to think, this server isn't ImDeity's job. He provides it for us to play on because he enjoys seeing the creativity and builds that people come up with and the community that it builds.

The Staff of the server is here to make sure the server runs and the players abide by the rules of the server. Just because "veterans" end up deciding that the server wouldn't survive without them and they are above the rules and get themselves banned doesn't mean the server is doomed to die. Do the staff members have friends with the regular players? Of course, most of us are regular players. Are we friends with everyone on the server? No, where is it said we need to be? We aren't here to force people to talk to you or provide fun things for you to do, that is the point of the server being up and running. The extra things we do is because we want to see the players have fun on the server having multiple activities to do, not because we are required to do them.

I hate it when players think it's the staff's job to provide them with things to do so they aren't bored. You bought the game, you joined the server. Have fun playing the darn game. That's what you bought it for?

I hate to say it, but the majority of the new players not sticking around isn't because of the server or it's staff. It is because of the negative attitudes that it seems quite a few of the "veterans" have and like to voice on the forums and in the game. So rather than seeing useful suggestions from the "veterans" of the server, all they see is people whining and complaining about the so-called "dying" server and leave.

There have been multiple improvements in the last few weeks, but nobody seems to notice any of that happening, just their own 'boredom' that we aren't magically fixing for them.

I guess my point is that Gravis is insignificant enough that a TS channel wouldn't do
much good for my goal of joining the community. But, regardless, I guess the overall point I'm trying to make is that TS is very important to being an important part of the community, perhaps too important, and I recognize that it's my own shyness and unwillingness to put myself out there that causes this. I have plans to get closer with the ImDeity community, trust me.

I suppose I'll toss my 2 cents in here....

Personal opinion, as stated in a thread I made before that was argued heavily against by staff members, is that there is a disconnect between the players and the staff. I had suggested that the players get to elect someone to represent them, which was shot down fast with the comment that the staff represent the players. This is a fallacy, the staff represent their individual agendas, though those agendas do sometimes mesh with the players agendas, there are various cases where they do not. Staff is more or less a popularity contest amongst the other staff members right now. Staff votes for staff, which again means that the players (those people that the staff moderate and who are the vast majority on the server) have no real say in who they think would be best to represent them. I am not saying that the staff should be picked entirely by players; however, it would be nice if the players at least were allowed some input or even the ability to vote for a player to become a mod (someone they feel would represent them). I know for a fact there were a lot of players disappointed with at least 1 choice of mod from the last batch (and by disappointed I mean rather upset). So I suppose what should be considered when the staff does their popularity contest when deciding who the mods are going to be, is how the players will react to those people becoming mods. It could be said that some players back away from the server because of choices made by the staff which contradict what they are used to and expect.

P.S. A good example of this is the current rumor that GCs are being moved to the creative world and that all current GC submissions will not count. That rumor, if true, will be what causes me to leave the server for good. I didn't spend 100k+ on my great construction so that someone else can build it for free and get credit, while I do not. Furthermore a move like that makes the GCs laughable as there would be no real effort. What took me a month to create on main, would take me a day on creative (if that). Also by moving them there, you take away from the epic builds that those players create, as they will no longer be on display in main.... see... player input helps, instead of backroom shadiness

I never expected to get my point on these kind of threads, but many points are just making me upset.

I do agree, the server was a really nice community. But you stated it by yourself, it was two years ago. I've been there, I have the proofs. But we can't be like Doc. Brown in Back to the Future movies; we don't have a Delorean that goes back two years ago when it speeds up at 88mph.
Yes, having two moderators/admins that were better than the amount of moderators we have now was good. But still, it's daydreaming. There was a constant 10-ish players on the server, with plugins that were already completely written. Today, we have 30,300 registered players, including the alternates account and such, which goes down to a 50-60 constant players online. Plus, the plugins needs to be rewritten to actually make the server more unique, and have an even better community. Now that ImDeity does not have time to watch every actions that people are doing, he needs a solid team helping him.

Again, if moderators are chosen by other moderators plus Admins approbation, is because they look forward people that are devoted, ready to help, and blah blah (you know all of that anyway). Having moderators chosen by the community itself would still goes by a popularity contest, which like you said, is not really what we're looking into. The statement of having players opinion can be good, but from there, It is not my decision.

What I do understand from your post, is that moderators are like doctors; they do try to fix the problem, but it can appear again because we did something wrong.
Basically, we're not robots, and like SweetMaple said, everyone have a life they need to live outside ImDeity Kingdoms.

We know that making excuses is not the best solution, but that sentence just made me throw my chair on the floor.
You think we're drinking some glass of grape juice and eat crackers during staff meeting?
When players comes to us with a problem they have found, we write it down, and discuss about it,trying to find a solution. The threads that are complaints about something that is wrong, we still talk about it during meetings. Yes, it may take time until it get fixed, yes it may not be as the majority wants; but when it needs to be worked on, we are.

And, moderators have once and are still regular players. No one is perfect.

Okay, I tried to refrain from posting for awhile but I just felt that I needed to add my opinion here as well.

I understand how some people lose interest and get bored or whatever with the server. However, it is not the staff's job to entertain players. Players are expected to make their own fun really, and the staff make sure the players don't get carried away with their fun along with the misbehaving of players in general. I don't think it's fair to blame the staff, I know there are many staff who always have open arms to hear from regular players, even if they cannot reply as quickly as you'd like. I don't agree that the staff members have 'their individual agendas'. There are examples of staff members looking for player input all over the forums and staff members are approachable in so many ways on this server(TeamSpeak, in-game, forums and other methods of contact). Player input definitely plays a role on this server to some degree. Also, if staff was chosen by the regular player population it wouldn't exactly relieve the 'popularity contest' if that actually even exists right now. There will always be some bias in some way or form, it's impossible to get rid of that 100%, and personally i'd rather have staff chosen by people who are in the position of being a staff member. I don't think it's fair for regular players to sit and judge the moderators and then lose interest in the server based on who is chosen for staff. This is not what the server is about and I find that to be a bit of a drastic measure if it is indeed true.

Threads like this can be great for adding your input, but when they are not followed with suggestions it can be wearing to constantly see these negative threads/opinions and not so many positive threads. Rmar, the best way for you to feel not so left out is to get around and talk to people more. Additionally, don't take it personally if people don't reply or miss something you've said, this happens so often and for the most part I really don't think it's intentional. Sometimes venturing around various TeamSpeak channels and talking to a variety of people is a great way to expand your 'friendships' and it can only help the community. Personally, I find myself in various kingdom channels and town channels almost everyday, it's a good way to kind of break the whole 'clique' thing and that is really something that can only be controlled by us, the players and people as a whole on the server and also in TeamSpeak. But I think 'cliques' are unavoidable for the most part, and really it's best just to kind of not look at it like that and rather just as a group of people who are probably not much different than you.

I have to cut this short, but I hope things get better for you Rmar.

I know that this doesnt really have anything to do with this thread, but I feel that this thread is about server stuff so i figured i would add to this. Sweet maple said above that most of the mods are older and more mature and have kids and all. Well If most of you are older and more mature, then why dont you listen to other moderators? One moderator says one thing and then another says something different, it makes no sense. I mean yes you are all entitled to your own opinion, but sometimes, it gets a bt rediculous..... If some of you have kids, i bet you listen to them when they try and tell you something, right? If you do then why dont you listen to other kids, like me. I am a kid, that lives and breathes and loves minecraft. If you listen to your kids, then why not listen to us. We are all human and we all have feelings, we are not just some robot out there to make everyones like terrible, which kind of sems like what the mods are at the moment. They dont listen and dont take peoples feelings into account. Think, if your child got banned, and i know that this hasnothing to do with with this thread but it is time everyone knows what I and many of my friends are feeling. If your child, Smc, was doing something against the rules, what would you do? I highly doubt that you would treat them the same way that you treat the bannies. You would say " Oh its ok just dont do it again." or something like that. You would not ban them like you would to any other player. I know that you wouldnt, You would have "simpathy" for them and not do much about the situation. My point here is that you have to treat everyone, no matter what their server realtions, equally and not give certain people special perks because they are relatives or "great" friends with a mod. You have to listen to everyones story and not just "change the rules when you want". Because if you could change the rules whenever you want, then you can potentially " Warp the rules around any given player.

I wonder if threads like these really further anything for the server, or to show that everyone argues about everything. This just makes me cringe that these threads just spawn a bunch of nonsense and need to be addressed too many times in so many different ways that it's extremely pointless. The only solution is for neither of the parties to complain, because neither of them win if they do. But what do I know? Most likely absolutely nothing, so I'm going no farther. There's no peace and there's no solution. Unless you all can actually come to a conclusion, be prepared for things like this until the end. I'm almost glad I can finally take a break from these shenanigans. I was upset, but now, after reading yet another thread like this, I'm just losing respect. It's been a pleasure.

I think one of the biggest oversights of this is somehow the idea that the staff aren't normal players anymore when we play the same way any other person plays, just with a higher conduct standard. The staff does represent the normal players because we are normal players. The only difference is that we keep watch for rule breakers or people of the sort. Of course we have individual agendas, we play on ImDeity like you and most of us own or are in a high position of a town. So yes, we have separate agendas, but they do not come before our responsibility to ImDeity.
Isn't this going against your stand that "Staff is a popularity contest" and how that's bad? Deity doesn't choose who is the most popular player, otherwise we know quite a few staff would've been swapped out for the "more popular". He chooses who can represent ImDeity: Kingdoms the best in how they speak to and treat others along with how they handle problems (just to name a few). If the players were to have a say in this we'd have one of these two scenarios happen.
    1. Everyone would vote for themselves or a buddy, which would not turn out well.
    or
    2. The Mayor/Senior Assistants from the biggest towns would get Staff since they have the most people behind them. (Yogs and the Dohations would rule all...)

If you have a problem with a Staff member, do as Levi had said and make a convo with the higher authorities (Levi, Gwen, smc, Deity, ect) and discuss what they've done that makes you dislike them or their actions. If you don't tell us, we'll never know. Everyone is going to have their own opinion on someone and there's no way all can agree/like on a single person to be Staff.

We do represent the players because that's what we are.

EDIT: I didn't see your reply when writing this, grat.
If you find contradictions with what some Staff are saying, please notify the us so we can fix it. These are things that need to be brought up to us when they happen so it can be dealt with. We give every player the same grace that someone else has, no exceptions. If you see someone who is going around or breaking the rules and a parent/sibling of theirs that is a Staff isn't doing anything, take a screenshot of it and send it to someone else so it'll be done. Although I have yet to see this happen since generally, a child who is under someone of authority will stay within the rules as they know the consequences.
To sum what what you said, if someone is doing wrong and the Staff online aren't doing anything, tell another Staff.

Of course the server doesn't want people to leave... But if your bored, I am sure they wouldn't really care. You are not much of a veteran... I have seen people leave here with almost 2 years on this server leave without a second thought about them. Its a game, meh. Don't have so much of a ego that when you type in "Hi" in chat, and no one responds to you that you go and make a thread like this. That's just childish imo. People are busy. Working on projects, talking to friends, just being afk. No one is that nice to respond to everyone that says hi. Deal with it. When we had 100+ players on almost all the time, type in chat "hi" and you'll see that barely anyone cares... Its not that big of a deal honestly.

I'm getting tired of these threads....

First of all, let me make a point to everyone here. According to Rmarmortstein's Minecraftforums account:
This is just one out of the ten sections. And you have only been moderator for only one section for a little over 3 months. I don't want to hear bragging from you about being a moderator. I'm sorry if that comes out harsh, but there are people with more experience being moderator, and that includes me (even if i didn't do much).

Now on to the rest of my rant. All this talk about people being not online is crap. Out of the five newest moderators, at least one of them is married. The rest either work or school. Most of the moderators here are teenagers. Mature teenagers. And that maturity includes being able to take a break from a game and doing other things with their life. So excuse them if you think there purpose in life is to be a moderator on a server and they aren't doing it right.

Most importantly, if you are so tired of stuff going on, why are you still here? It does no one any benefit for you to sit here and complain about stuff that doesn't need to be complained about. All you have ever done, this includes bug fixing too, is complain. You have not once in this thread offered a solution to fix anything. And in my opinion, everything is fine. Instead, if you think things need fixing, go to the suggestion forum and go down the list of things you don't like and make friendly suggestions to fix them.

However, if this was just a rant because you hate how the server is now, go ahead, be my guest, leave.

P.S. Not sure I consider you a veteran... Maybe if you earn the 'School of Hard Knocks' trophy.

I find it highly ironic that you are writing about a lack of consistency when you made up number of completely different stories and told different staff vastly differing stories when you were banned. The staff are generally pretty uniform with the interpretation and enforcement of rules here. When that fails, we have an appeal process where multiple staff members review a ban that was made.

I don't know how smcallah raises his kids but he has multiple children that play here and they seem to be doing just fine. Also, Smc is actually quite forgiving of banned players if you look through the ban forum. You will see many times where he's granted an appeal for the "bannies" as you say.

[ I'm only addressing grats post here because I think others such as steph have already responded well to Rmars post (re: cliques). ]

And what do you consider active for an Admin? ImDeity just coded a brand new, cross-cloud-server chat system and is improving it everyday. Before that, he updated all of the plugins, including his own custom plugins that only he can update, to work with 1.5.1 so that players could upgrade and play with the latest version of Minecraft. In my book, that's a lot of activity.

And do you have any idea what I do day to day for the server? As an unpaid volunteer, it is a lot. Just because you don't see what someone is doing doesn't make them not very active.

I didn't realize you were privy to what ImDeity is or isn't doing at any given time. You also didn't name any clear problems that need a real solution. "People leaving" the server isn't a problem. There are many people who were here 2 years ago that are not. And 18 months ago, a year ago, etc. People that played everyday for 2 or 3 months, then disappeared. They were certainly regular players when they played that much. I don't see that any different than someone who was around for a year leaving. No one can be happy with the same thing repeatedly. Nor can the server remain the same to please other people. Me, I almost left when the class system first came around when I was still a regular player, because I thought it would change the server too much. But I kept with it.

A lot of our so called loyal players ended up being cheaters or just became trolls. We didn't make them do that. And then with some of those people gone, others wanted to leave because their friends were gone. I'm not unbanning cheaters to keep a few players. I really think it's great that some people chose their friends over the server.

If it's so clear that we're not doing everything right and we just can't admit it, then why aren't you CLEARLY stating what is wrong? What is worse? What is not fine? There is no belief here to disprove as you posted no belief other than you know that ImDeity brainstorms no solutions. Solutions to what, I don't know.

Wow, really? Thanks for assuming so much about me without knowing anything about me. FrauDummkopf is my daughter, she happens to be a mod. I think that clearly shows if she would be a rule breaker or not. She didn't break the rules or get jailed or banned when we weren't staff, why would she do it now?

And punishments for rulebreaking are not always under my control. If FrauDummkopf did something that got her banned by ImDeity, then she would have to accept that punishment. It wouldn't be up to me, but I don't expect her to break the rules because she is not that kind of person. She is not logging into other people's accounts and pretending to be them and then telling someone who they really are but not to tell anyone and not expecting to get banned for it.

I'm not sure what you're going off on here. There is no time when anyone who is staff with kids playing here, and there's only 2 including me that I know of, has ever bent the rules because of their children.

I myself try to mingle with alot of people on the server, and it does kind of concern me when no one says "Hi" back to me. I usually have those days on the server where lots of people like you and you converse with them alot and you start to think that you are finally making a place on the server but then the next day you come on, no one is talking to you, so you start to feel a bit unwanted and that everything the other day was just a one time thing. But other then that, this server is really fun and i like it, i can never find another server as good as this, mainly because i already know alot of people and have played on it for a long time, but this server really is great. I also do get looked down on by staff because i dont have alot pf "common sense" i actually do have that i just ask questions because i want to make sure if i was right or not, in my opinion maybe the mods can be a bit nicer. Also when i was talking about something and trying to start a conversation someone (I wont name him/her) said "We dont care", i just wanted to say that cause this kinda goes under the "Server isnt getting nicer" topic we have in this thread.

For anyone who is complaining that they don't feel welcomed:
On ImDeity, Teamspeak is probably the most important social aspect of the server (perhaps excluding the forums). Use it and use it consistently, try to immerse yourself in the ImDeity community, and then you will become part of the community. That's what I'm working on. I plan to immerse myself into the community, but then again, I'm pretty shy, so idk if it will work for me. Let's use our own time and energy in an attempt to solve the problem before complaining about it on the forums and blaming the mods and whatnot. Capische?

I didn't present any problems because I haven't played much the past two weeks, and because my past problems are spilled milk. Some uncleaned, but no point in bringing it back up.

That seems pretty unfair then. You go on and on about how there are problems and we're not coming up with solutions, etc, etc. But then don't relay any of the problems.

I'm just going to go ahead and type things while i wait for my TV show to load up. Okay, so there has been a fair few of these types of threads lately "The server's dying, i hate the staff, there's so many plugin problems, go fix things, i'm hungry" blahblahblah you get the picture. As some people may know i sort of maybe started the first big fight thing where everyone was just throwing things they didn't like in the open and just causing a bigger problem than we really needed to do. I'm not trying to take the side of the staff and say "Stop being stupid, everything is fine" (Although some people are being considerably stupid in here). While i do agree with some points, i just think everyone should just take a minute. Breath in, aaand out. Better? Okay, good, then keep reading. Like a few of you, i've been here since when the server was tiny, with 10ish players at one time, complete plugins, so on so forth. That was a great time, wasn't it? But as to use a very well known quote from a very nice man named Bob Dylan, "The Times, They are a-Changin". Since then we've grown HUGE, then sunk a bit, then gotten BIG again, and i think right now we're in the mid point of low and high. And that's cool, because you know what's happening? We've got a nice steady stream of players, and right now Deity is doing, well, a Deity's work with plugins. The new stats pages, are just, so good. I seriously love them. Deity has managed to fully integrate the web and in game. Combine that with the new chat page and chat in game, and that's only been in the past week or two?! Seriously, if anyone complains about plugins, i will punch you right in the jaw. Here's controversy: Staff! People are complaining about the staff a lot. Saying either they're bad people, they don't do their job, whatever. God knows i've had my issues with the staff before, but that's all behind me. I've forgiven whoever i had fights with, or disagreements, or whatever. If you have an issue with staff, you've got a few choices. Best choice is to ignore that individual. So what they're there a lot, you don't have to talk to them, no one is forcing you to! If they persist in bugging you somehow (never happened to me, except when smc tried to joke with me that one time, and i took it totally wrong. That was a funny day), you can confront them if you want, but don't be surprised if you're punished. Believe it or not, if you badmouth someone, or get really angry, then the person in particular is likely to not like you, and you might end up worse of. If all else fails, go ahead and make a formal complaint. Don't put it on the forums, just message Deity. You'd better make it good though, because he's pretty busy with all the plugins you're all telling him to make to handle little issues with staff. I know there's some times when you are just sick of some people, and sometimes they happen to be staff, but i've learned it's best to just get over it, because if you don't let on there's anything wrong, they're not going to care either, and everyone can get on with their mining and crafting. I'm sure i had more to say, and i probably will later. As i said, i'm not trying to be the good guy or the bad guy here. It's just simple things guys. Common Sense, yeah?
Also i'm really sorry about having no gaps here, my firefox has managed to screw up a lot, and doesn't do spacing for me. I'll try fix it later.

*Whispers* "Fix your firefox, PLEASE " ;)

I think people should not tolerate alot of proverbial bull fecies from staff, if they are really wrong, you should contact Gwen with that, Gwen handles moderator related bussiness as head mod. But ignoring someone who is doing you wrong is wrong. The first thing to do is talk to the moderator about it, not in a way that accuses them, but confront them with the fact they are making you feel uncomfortable.

Age does not matter in your maturity, or abilities to do things, as it is often thought. Actually, there is a lot that you simply cannot learn from an about me. I just wanted to throw that in, since even though, i may act immature here, I'm probably the most active moderator in my sections, and, a person can be a lot different from a "messing around" perspective, to a "Staff" perspective

Actually, I think that Deity and SMC make a pretty good team, and it does not seem like it, but they do a lot. I've administrated websites and some different type servers (non-minecraft) and most of the stuff that happens, "users" dont see, since it is all behind the scenes, and making things work and work better. The admins are honestly my last complaint on the server.

I am normally on there at least for a little bit every night. :p
