What motivates you/What have you made yourself?

I was searching up some ideas in my spare time, which I tend to have a lot of, about what people tend to be interested. I discovered an article by Daniel E. Slotnik and Katherine Schulten. I found some of their questions to be really interesting themselves. The following questions were:
*What motivates you?- Tell about any instances when being told “no” made you work harder to achieve success. Even if you have never experienced this, what personality traits do you think help someone transform a negative experience to a powerful motivator?
*What have you made yourself?-Tell about what you’ve made by hand, and what you’ve learned from doing it. Do you wish you had more opportunities for designing and creating things?
So leave a post below about either of these questions or both. It would be great to hear about what anyone has done or how.

 

Ahh...get to spill beans on this one. Well, gonna get to it.

What motivates me...that's a good question. There's been many instances of being told no, and having that driving force in you that makes you want it more and more. I've moved to new places (means moving a living in an new environment for more than...say a month) for over 7 times now. I've traveled overseas for years at a time, lived quite a portion of my life without a true place to call "home". I'd be in one place, then have to move to another, and one of those things that I've always had trouble was friends. (Well this makes it sound bad...I have friends!) I've had to make great friends, and have to leave them within 3 months. Then move on, make new friends, and do that. It's been firmly drilled into me to be flexible, to adapt, because nothing is permanent in life Always when moving happened, I would always think to myself "C'mon! I can do this! I've experienced so much, been through this so often, it's easy!" It's not that easy. I like to movtivate myself, with basically myself. Maybe a bit hard to get, but yeah...I'll push myself, as long as I know I can do whatever that goal is. I also like just talking, ranting, arguing, just getting it out of my system to create a nice open way for motivation. I talk with my gf like 5 hours a day, and she knows me better than herself sometimes xD. Same for my side. Motivation can be in anything, you just have to do your best to find it. So I'd say having the ability to adapt, to be flexible, is one of the most important traits someone should learn.

Things that I have made by myself...this is good. Some things that I am most proud of myself are: Pretty simple things just learning, such as my first "Hello World" script in Lua xD (good times). I'm in a sorta Science Olympiad team right now, doing all sorts of cool stuff with science, one being using a rotary device to use the aerodynamics of the device to slow down the movement of an egg falling. Nothing can be use to cushion the egg such as trapped air, only the plastic bag it is kept in. It can't be a parachute, and the whole thing must be as light as you can make it. Through this, I made an helicopter device using cut out sanded styrofoam (SOO HARD TO SAND) and balsa wood sticks with a super lighter-than-air plastic sheeting called Mylar. Turned out okay, not as well as I thought, but I was very proud of it nevertheless. I learned everything there has to be about aerodynamics of autorotation, as well as a bunch of cool geeky things xD. Once you make one project like that, it makes it easier to plan out and try another one, and another one. Though it is pretty awkward having someone see you in your garage, sanding styrofoam like a baws, while playing some kind of song (with my luck, the playlist would be on Taylor Swift or something).

 

I motivate my self with music. Music is the "everyone's motivator". I pooted (remember that show? Cheese? Blue? Mac?[Yeah, doubt you do]) (I maked the pooted)

 

Instances where I've been told no...

Reminds me of becoming an Assistant in Anvil. I worked, and now and then asked for an Assistant's position. They said no. Soon I worked harder and harder and I finally got the job

 

People said getting a shop was a bad idea and i spent to much on it, well A_rab, who's laughing now? lol

 

i make community based projects. like now im making a dinning hall to serve free meals!

 

Microwaveable mac and cheese.

 

What motivates me? Other people I don't like doing something I want to do, and that I care enough to try hard enough so they don't achieve their goal. Sounds kinda sadastic.

What have I made? A play, a scale model of a originally made set design, hope in the dark lives of others, an unfinished costume design for a character in Les Miserables, and yeah, that's about it.

Motivation is key though, without drive, there is no passion, and without passion, there is no finished product, only a half-finished one that is missing something, passion.

 

What Motivates me is my art. As growing up the only thing i ever had was my art , painting , and drawing on my self. When i came to the usa i saw alot of types of different art and starting listening to One Republic ,Owl city , Dubstep , and much more. The reason i believe im here is for my art to share what can be done and to help. That's one of the things that Motivates me. Other things are well you guys. Your guys have helped me and are getting to understand me more but understand im not the same puff/Alaina. I can be shy.......VERY SHY..... I hardly talk in school and stuff....Anyways im getting off topic. But still understand you guys and my art Motivates me and if i did not found out about my gift....I know this is sad to say but I would not even be here right now....A other thing i think it fits me.... I make pictures and sculptures.
Slipknot is lovely, music doesn't really motivate me though. I don't think anyone has ever told me that I'm not allowed to draw, man that would suck.
What motivates me to do artwork and share mine, besides my studies which require my efforts, is the support I get (constructive criticism, praise and all that).

My children are my motivation for all things in life. Love them soo much.. , and now with 3 grandkids my motivation is on solid ground.

Not too much in the way of a crafty make it myself kinda guy - but i have designed a 7 card crib board and rules for 7 card crib.. I have designed a couple other games but nothing worthy of any further interest..
My biggest dream would be to learn how to program games for the PC, God i love video games - lol..but alas, bills need to be paid.

 

What motivates me is an inspirational speech, has to be a good one though. :3 What I made myself are the brownies I made yesterday?

 

The fact that I could've finished studying an hour ago if I wasn't commenting on this thread.

 

What motivates me is to win the heart of the girl I like *Dawww**No, it's not Shai. I know right! :O* and a lot of other things, including the fact my parents are going to send me to a new school if I fail any test this year after I've been at the current one for, what, 11 years now? *Woot, Year 12 baby :3* There is also Angel Beats, which if you haven't seen yet, you must. It shows us that even if you live a crappy life where there is nothing but suffering, you'll eventually find happiness, even if your suffering doesn't go away. Listening to the opening song still makes me feel like crying, you guys should watch it What I made for myself was a killer roast chicken *Not literal* last night. If you haven't had my chicken, you haven't been livin', lol.
