Beacons

In my opinion, 75-100k is still too low.
The demand for these little devils is far higher than anything else on the server (except perhaps the demand on bug fixes ;P)
Many people can afford 100k, as the mayor of a small town consisting of only 5 irl friends, we pulled off gathering 75k dei in <2 days. Imagine what a big town can produce.

If a town like Doha "squeezes" for a day or two (no spending for plots ect) they can easily reach 100k with absolutely no effort. This means that big towns could get 1 or multiple beacons with 0 work. Obviously this would be a good thing since bigger towns (more players) means more need for a beacon than say a town like mine, but the idea of them going out so cheaply is outrageous.

I'm already amazed that Beacons are available to players, never knew about that, but if you have one, hold on to it. It might be the one thing that sets you into the class of the wealthiest and most powerful players (economically) on the server.

Here's the problem, or the opportunity cost.
If you sell now, you can sell for 100kDei+
However if you wait while telling people that you are willing to sell, more people will be interested and I believe that the prices could breach the 200-250k Barrier.
The problem with waiting is the chance that the staff either allow full on beacon creation or just keep giving out more of them.

My advice to you is to set a ridiculously high starting bid. Somewhere around 250k. If no one is currently interested, they might soon be.
Also advertise this in-game. I know this is kind of a mean move to whoever is trying to buy it, but I am trying to maximize the deal for him. Selling it off for <100k would pretty much be the same as him getting ripped off hard.

 

I don't think we need beacons, it's not like you can put them everywhere.

 

Beacons are useless... Especially somewhere in the wild... The area of effect for it to be of any use would mean there'd need to be thousands in the wild.

They aren't required for anything special, but just grant a little buff.

 

There should be a beacon at all the public places like the farms and the spawn

 

There are no farms, you're probably refering to the town you live in, not the PUBLIC capital.

 

well sainthunder thanks for asking around but it doesn't have to be an admin to know if someone is inactive it could be the job of the town leaders but yes i guess it would have to be the admin who credits half the cost back and taking if of their property and well i doubt people who obtain a beacon would be that inactive as they have put penty of time into the server already

ah no i don't like that i don't want every place, every spawn on the server having one that's just boring but only 3 on the server its rediculous

Well this is just me, but wouldn't multiple beacon lights in one spot (save for the ones at spawn) look kind of hideous?

 

Oh yes, that is always a huge factor in all building/architectural feats. Rule #2 of master builders: Don't overuse one building material without giving it dimension or contrast.

You could also put two reply's on one post, and I'm not the one you should be worried about being on your back about double-posting, it's 'them' that are the scary ones...

 

Yes. At least one of those two beacons i know about was given as christmas gift.
And that is only good way to keep number of beacons low. A bit like lottery. If they would be sold in Deity Shop for any price, people would buy tons of them immediately.

 

well sainthunder its what it wants to be if the community doesn't agree with what i say we can edit it nothings set in stone just because i said i wanted it this way.... my idea was a starter idea people said no to a few things i change a few things to make others happy

and as for there would need to be thousands out in the wild thats not what im talking about alot of you do not under stand the use of a beacon its hardly its features its more of a building block and used in the right places can make many building look amazing and add certain fun actives which imdeity is lacking pvp spleef once a week cmon thats not fun you could see alot of new activities that people create like harder jumping puzzles with prizes which i my self want to do for my place

So beacons are allowed in this server correct? Cause my friend is trying to work his way up for one right now ... If they are not I would love to let him know so he doesnt waste his time ... lol. Is the only way to get them by buying or can you actually build one yourself?

 

you can't make them and technically they aren't for sale, unless one of the two/three people decides to sell theirs (unlikely).
