living in the wild

Hi all,

IMdeity looks like a great server - but lots to learn about. If we want to live in the wild - any suggestions. Our first night we had all our stuff stolen - diamond swords (x3), 2 sets of iron armor, and about 60 iron ore we had mined. And all our food - a lot of it. Very disappointing.

Any good suggestions on how to live in the wild and not get griefed? or is it just a fact of life?

The best place to live, is to live in a town. Definitely.

Often, the /wild can be easily griefed, and if you know your ways and have read the wiki, then you should write a /ticket about it.

The problem with the wild is that you can only spawn back with /home if you happen to die, or you have to walk all the way...

So, tip of the day, read the wiki, and join a town.

 

Yes, a town does look more interesting. I read through the wiki - it's just the pioneering spirit in me!

The other issue I worry about is daily tax - I play the game with my two young kids and we only play weekends - so I'm worried we'll fall behind on our taxes. But nonetheless - town may be the way to go.

I know, taxes seem pretty hard. Vote everyday for an automatic 200 dei, which "should" last you through a week on even the most expensive tax-rated towns out there. You can also get the diamonds, sell them at 20-25 each for more money, and ever talk to the staff of the town. I'm sure many will work something out for you.

 

My advice is to use the map at imdeity.com/map and find a spot somewhat close to a town. You aren't supposed to build too close to a town, but walking 300 blocks from the town spawn is better than building near the /wild teleports.

I'm building somewhat close to a wild teleport, but haven't had anyone grief my build yet because I'm just far enough away.

 

Good advice - so far been griefed a couple of times, but the admins have been great at attending to them. They do a rollback, which I believe is supposed to get our stuff back, but not sure it works so well - haven't seen all the stuff. But good to know they investigate and put bans on players.

I just joined Doha and looking to get a plot now. We'll live in town. Some amazing building efforts by people!

 

Only join a town if you want protected stuff, I feel your pain.

 

i tried living in wild too, no luck) greifing is just a hobby there.

 

Now that you are in Doha, I should tell you that I never kick people from town that can't pay tax. So don't worry about it
Make sure to yell at a town assistant to get you a plot, we are always busy busy

 

Thanks Yogs! Actually with the d200 / day from voting taxes are pretty manageable. Build my house this weekend!

So yes, I would save the diamonds, and save most of the money from voting. Go mining every once in a while with /mine, you can earn a good 400 dei for about 20-30 minutes. Good luck, and have fun in Imdeity!

 

Looks like you have already had your question answered but, Just wanted to say 5 of my friends and I built really close to ~~~ but, just outside the border zone. We haven't had any problems with griefing. I also joined ~~~ in efforts to be close to our town and be apart of a really cool community. You can still have your adventure side, just like some people have said, Build close to towns --- make friends --- and just pay close attention, so that admins/mods can find the griefers. Enjoy.
