Possible Glitch?

    I recently found a dungeon in the new mining world, and inside of the chest there was two enchanted books. When I returned to the main world, planning to use the books, the enchantments vanished. They now just say "Enchanted Books", without saying any enchantment. I have tried to combine them with weapons multiple times, and I also tried restarting Minecraft multiple times. I know I am not using them wrong because I have used them before(and I double checked to make sure just because :p). Is this just me having problems, or is it an actual glitch?

    that also happens to dyed armor (it loses its color) and to renamed items
    it is because enchanted books, dyed armor and renamed items still have the same id, and they have no hexadecimal id so when they get copied and pasted into your main/mine inventory they return to their default

    it is not fixable because you cant change the ids or add hexadecimal id numbers to objects wia plugins

    I cant seem to enchant my armor with books either, it just gives me the enchanted book and the armor back, and takes the levels i used, but when i relog i gain the levels again.

    I lost 2 enchanted books too :( Too bad there is no way to fix it, unless you go to mine with an anvil.

    That happened to a friend, I got the stuff and tried, nothing happened :p

    Had one of my assistants put a Respiration 3 enchanted book on my protection 2 diamond helm earlier tonight with no problems. Might want to make sure the enchants you're using are able to go on the armor you are trying to put it on.

    You should be able to do it; I had no problems, however you need to do it the mining world as lego stated.

    taking the anvil in /mine and putting the enhant on there broke the enhanted book and now i lost my Blas protection IV that i got from smcallah :(
    i got the book back but it only says: 'enhanted book'

    You didn't need to take the book to /mine if you already had it on main, that is why the book lost the enchantment. That's the same problem people are having with the enchanted books they found in /mine, they were taking them to /main and losing the enchantment. That is why they should be using an anvil in /mine to enchant something so that they don't bring the book back and mess it up. So the same happened to you, but in reverse.

    This glitch is still occurring for me whilst trying to enchant a helmet with respiration in the mining world. It takes my xp, and gives back the items.

    Currently there is no way to fix it. More than likely it won't be fixed, so they are stuck that way.
    It is up to you what you want to do with them. (I'll have them if you chuck) :D

    If you are trying to use an enchanted book on something that already has an enchant on it, it won't work. Books will only enchant un-enchanted items. Then you have to combine two enchanted items to combine the enchants.

    Also, there is no way for this to get fixed unless Mojang gives enchanted books, named items, fireworks and dyed leather a better way of storing data. The items are all the same id. You can have 15 different different enchanted books, all with different enchants in your inventory. They will all have the identical item id. When items are transferred between the mining world and the main world, they are given back with the 'give' command, which can't specify the enchanted book enchants, or the color your leather was dyed, etc...

    is the helmet damaged? or has it been repaired previously in an anvil? Both of those will cause it to not work.

    It is brand new, never been put on, just made :p
    The anvil at spawn in the mining world makes the helmet, after about 3 sec in my inventory it spits the book
    and the helmet on the floor and gives my xp back the next time I reconnect to the server.

    It's quite weird..

    It does seem to be a recurring issue. Tried to put respiratory 3 on a new iron helm with no success. The item and experience will pop away ant the items will reappear. You need to go get more experience before you meter will refresh and all of you experience will return. Do this before you go back to main to be safe and ensure you have all your experience.

    Bummer about the books getting zeroed. Just need to use them before I head back to main. Thanks for the info guys.
