    So has anyone seen the post jeb_ published about the next version of Minecraft? You can check it out here:

    The announced release date for this is August 1st. And it looks like it's bringing a lot of cool features along with it.

    The main point he wanted to stress was that instead of Minecraft SP and MP being two separate entities, SP is now just a shell on top of MP. This will have an impact on many areas, most importantly being that it will be a lot easier for them to fix bugs.

    I really like the idea of the books and being able to write more in them. I think you could use them similarly to signs giving instructions and such, but you could go into more detail. Also, he mentioned something about getting experience orbs for mining and smelting, and not just killing mobs. Now that's interesting and kind of reminds me of something else. Hmm...;)

    I'm super stoked about the Ender chests as well. Personally, I think that's a great idea and can't wait to see it implemented. If you're not familiar with the concept, check it out here:

    What is really exciting for me, is that they will improve the performance of the game. For me, it'll be better than running Minecraft with 30 - fps!
    The Adventure mode: That will be the other thing that I was waiting. I'm an amateur of the adventure/puzzle/anything maps made by players, and this will change entirely the gameplay in those.
    New block list in creative mode: Finally! This will be very VERY useful for everything! it all explains by itself, I don't have anything else to add on that.

    Trade system with Villagers: They will become,at last, something else than decoration or obstacles when exploring a village. Those will be a good addition when you're looking for something without "working" for it.

    Except for those, I'm really impatient to see the new World generation, with some updates they did, that will be awesome!

    The money system sounds interesting, they are planning to call its 'Emeralds' .
    Your going to be able to:
    • Mine emeralds (New Ore)
    • Make emeralds into blocks
    Also they are implementing 'Trading', which you will be able to sell items, buy items and enchantments of villagers. Which will take the NPC plugin away, as the villagers can give you items in return or emeralds acting like NPC's.

    Also the EnderChests sound nice, its kind of like a present system :)

    What I like best is single player commands so I don't have to stress over tryin to install too many items and failing many times.(still havent gotten it installed)

    It is good that you will now be able to change single player maps to LAN with one little click - Don't know how many times I had wanted a building I created in SSP to be on a server.

    I'm excited for all the work the staff is going to have to do converting out plugins to work with the new system, and then all the user raging at us taking forever on other things.

    Adventure mode! Also the villager trading system, and Tekkit has a better ender chest, you can have several like that just by using different dye combonations!

    Haha. I'm sure not everyone feels this way, but personally I wasn't even exepcting you guys to implement it on our server for quite a while. In fact, if they can churn out 1.4 fast enough, I should think it would be better to wait until it or 1.5 is out...

    1.4 won't be out for a while, they plan to add the modding API to it, and they haven't really even started on that. infact i read somewhere they won't release the modding API till fed next year
