I was thinking as i was wandering around to find a new place to mine, in the mining world, that if there was a rail line people could pay to use, it would speed up for those who wanted to pay, the rate at which people can find a good location. As well as create a form of income for who ever manages the rail line.

There has already been a discussion on this before and people just said its a bad idea cos no one will pay, they'll steal the minecarts and it will always be clogged up.

That is too bad, but also too true. I think the only way to get something like this to work is set it where the line is only enterable at the entrance and certain exit points, with the exits being only one way, and having the entrance point operated by some kind of operation that only the operator can do/have permissions for. Now this would have a lot of problems but I think it would be one of the only ways to do it unless you had some kind of custom script or some such to do it. For example on some servers you have a lottery system where you merely type "/lottery buy" and it automatically deducts money from your account, what if, with the custom script, you used it the same way but instead "/trainticket buy" and then the railway would need a onetime use password by which it would allow you to use the track, or go through a entryway to use the track. Some servers have chest and door passwords why not railway passwords? or a button password.

Its true, also mobs tend to overwhelm the world so much that its not safe to travel alone.

We actually used to have a mining world like this, but they changed it quickly. People were punching peoples minecarts to steal them, and it was a bad idea. They had to go out and protect those individual areas for the track, and it took longer for them to set it up. Also, I believe there was already a topic about this.

Is it possible then to have a shop beside the tracks selling/buying minecarts? That way you buy it when you need it, and then sell it when your done(minus a service fee of course).

That is a really good idea but i can see where stealing minecarts could be an issue. I think maybe if you had a teleporting device almost like the floor signs going to different parts of the mining world it would be productive

This doesn't seem as a reasonable idea especially for the mine world. The mine world is rested often and having to create a new rail system every time the mine world is rested, isn't a reasonable idea. It will also have to be maintained and doubt the staff would want to waste there time clearing all the mine carts that get stuck etc. Also as others have said please use the search bar.

Seems like a cool idea but it would just create a lot more work. It's simple, walk far enough from spawn and then some, because most people just mine as close as they possibly can to the spawn area. However, the strategic and not so lazy people, know to walk just a bit further and then start mining. It just takes a few more seconds. :)

Indeed a lot more work, all in all just walking it is the way to keep it, but I do remember a mining world where the spawn was surrounded by water and you had a walkway path to the actual land, it would be nice to have a walkway leading in four directions all the way to where you can mine.

It's not that far, easy as that. See it like this: The further you go, the larger the chance that you find goodies. Some people spend up to 4 hours in the mining world, what is 5 minutes walking compared to that, or 5 minutes compared to an hour?
