    DeityGames Sponsor Idea

So here is my suggestion to make the DeityGames more like the book/movie The Hunger Games.

So, like the sponsors in HG maybe people who aren't in the games could send the people in the DeityGames items like Pork, Beef, Melons and instant-healing potions for a small price like:

    *Pork: 7 dei
    *Beef: 7 dei
    *Melon: 4 dei
    *Potion: 30 - 50 dei
So people who aren't in the DeityGames could be the sponsors right?

You don't have to have the item it just costs money to give the item to the specific player.

EDIT: Deleted the sword thing as I don't like it so much now and added the potions.I also changed the prices.
    DeityGames Betting Idea

This next bit is similar but a bit different. People could bet on people in the DeityGames with a command. If they win you get a half more than what you put in.

This would be good and make it more like HG.

    Please consider these.

I've always thought it would be cool if there was some sort of sponsor ability for the Games ... Perhaps people would spend less time begging for others to join and more time lobbying for others to support them in the Games. Of course, there is the possibility of a downside - if someone becomes a very popular player, they could easily get far more sponsors and therefore get far more sponsorship. However, I'm not sure that food would really give most people much of an advantage ... Perhaps the possibility of donating a small weapon for more Dei, or a piece of armor, etc. Although, the short span of our Games, coupled with the inability for possible sponsors to watch their possible sponsee might make it more difficult or less enjoyable and therefore less likely for people to want to donate. Part of the 'joy' of donating in the books was being able to fulfill a need of the sponsee - medicine, food, etc.

And why so cheap. In the books they say over and over again that its expensive to sponsor. You should not be sponsored ever run.

The problem I see is this:

Player A gets together with Player B who they decide will be a sponsor for Player A. Player A enters the games and immediately receives a stone sword and leather armour. Total cost: 100 dei, 50 dei each (example).

Player B then places a bet on Player A to the sum of 500 dei.

As player A is so well equipped, they kill a large number of people and finally win the games. They receive 500 dei. That is split evenly between Player A and Player B. They also receive another 125 dei on top of that from the bet that they won. They are both now 325 dei richer (Taking into account the 50 dei sponsorship payment).

In the next hour, Player B enters and they clean up again. 650 dei for not much work.

Now for the problem caused by the problem.

Other teams catch on and start doing this. The games then become a monopoly for wealthy players and smaller players there for a bit of fun don't stand a chance.

    That's just what I think.

Thats just a question of how close you want to stay at the original idea of the book i guess. In the book, they say over and over again how good the "rich districts" get trained and that they have many sponsors. The book suggests a unfairness. I think if you balance out what it costs to sponsor and the reward, not many ppl will abuse it as its not worth it then. And i cannot remember weapons being sponsored in the book, only food and medicine but i have only read the first book so i cannot tell what happened in the other books...

    Thanks for all the feedback.

Very good point. After thinking bout that I agree with the giving of items alot more than the betting.

I think that the unfairness shouldn't be in the DeityGames though.

Maybe food and potions could be the only things sent.

I remember making a suggestion like this in the original hunger games forum here on imdeity.

My concept of it was that every player in the games is given a number e.g. hg1 for hunger games tribute 1 and you could find this by typing /games ?
you then typed something like /games sponsor hg1 <amount> but you make the items expensive.

E.g. a diamond in the main is 25 dei but if you want 1 in the hunger games it will require a 350 dei sponsorship.

Yeah, I wouldn't put diamonds in though because it would be too easy to win.

true but just to make a sword would cost you 700 dei, maybe up the price for diamonds to something like 500 dei

So the people with more money will have a bigger chance at winning... or people with more money-support from their town... I don't like it.

Also betting can be rigged, so there is not a single chance that an official betting system will ever be implemented.

Yeah I don't really like the betting now

Because I don't want swords in the giving I think underdogs could still win.
