    No, ofc you don't have to join a town! It's your choice. But towns offer alot of stuff and many people are in town (;

    You can live in the wilderness or something, just not in the mining world :)

    Town pros: protected plot. Plots are 16x16 in size. The first plot is usually free and additional plots cost in-game money. You can do /t spawn to teleport to town for 5 dei. Only town staff and server staff will be able to access your chests and open your doors. All other people will be restricted. You'll likely also get the benefit of using the town farms and other facilities that the town you choose may have. You may have build restrictions for your house such as height, theme, etc.

    Wilderness pros: isolation, free reign to build whatever you want and whatever size you want. You don't technically have protection from people stealing or griefing, but if those crimes do occur then the server staff will usually be able to help restore your things (this is not a guarantee). You will have to remember how to get to your house since you wont be able to teleport there (unless you donate real world money to get more /home usage)

    To find a town you can look at htis page and request to join the one of your liking: http://imdeity.com/portal/?go=town
    Once a member of the town's staff approves your request you'll be able to have them help you get set up with a plot and they'll let you know the town rules, give you a tour, etc.

    EDIT:
    I seriously just had to google what ofc meant. sigh... lol

    nope, not manditory. but it does allow you to have an unlimited home spawn point and if you decide to be nobility it allows you to bring in money (based on a % of how long you are playing to how much your town is being taxed). if yo are a merchant it allows you to put a shop in the sight of others. and finally if you are a builder(high ranked) you can be hired by some of the people in charge of the town to build some of the town for a price they decide. so in the longrun, join a town

    Eh, this is pretty inaccurate.

    You don't get unlimited use of /home. You DO get to use /t spawn at hte cost of 5 dei. you can use this as much as you want, so long as you have the coin. This will take you to the town spawn building.. not directly to your home.

    You do not get income just for being in a town if you're a noble. You only get a salary if you are a mayor or an assistant. Residents do not get paid the salary.

    The merchant chest shops are disabled and have been for months. Even if the plugin worked you'd be able to have a shop at the main server spawn as long as you're a merchant. Being in a town makes no difference as to whether you can make a shop or not.

    True, being a laborer in a town is very useful. Though, the other residents will have to grant you access to their plot in order for you to place redstone/water.

    Ummmm, you might want to learn more about the classes yourself before you post any more "help" about yhem.

    In order to gain your salary as a Lord, you have to be the Mayor or an Assistant of a town and it is in no way based on how long you've been playing.

    Town shops will eventually be added, but aren't an option currently. (Only mall shop once it's re-opened)

    As a builder, that can happen anyway and usually town members donate their building time and such for the betterment of the town.

    We don't have jobs, but if you're talking about classes then just do a search for classes and you will find many discussions about them.
