    I think that the tools provided are not very good and i died about 9 to 12 times i got a stone pick i would want at least to start with a stone sword

    Thats why its a survival server. Survival means that it gives you a challenge to survive. If everything is provided, its not a challenge anymore...

    1) It's a survival server. You're lucky you got to start with anything! I don't recall that I got starting items...

    2) Break 2 tree block & 2 stone blocks with your free stone sword. Convert 2 logs into 8 planks; 4 planks into a workbench, 2 planks into 4 sticks. Combine 1 stick with 2 stone blocks = stone sword. Total time taken: about 1 minutes plus maybe 5 mins running through /go mine to find a tree and digging down/through to some rock.

    (I may personally dislike the negative attitudes to new players often encounter .... but I can see why something like this would elicit an "L2P noob!" response...)

    I don't think we are getting any better starter items, as people have pointed out it is a survival server after all.

    If you are having trouble with surviving, '/go mine' during dawn, you'll be able to run to the mining side and still have plenty of daylight left to be safe. You can burrow down into the ground and mine during night as well, you'll be relatively safe there as well, especially if you invest in torches.

    I remember getting starter items, then accidentally falling to my death within only a couple minutes. I then no longer had any starter items at all... and i turned out to survive ok ;-)

    Getting stone tools is easy and can be done in minutes. With enough torches, and making sure you are in a safe place at night, you should not need better to just survive.

    Although I did once run into a dungeon only to find it was 3 all connected. Could not kill the mobs faster than the 3 spawners spawned them..not a pretty :(

    I agree... great insight for someone with 3 posts...
    Anyway, it is a survival server, and I'm with btarb. I lost my stuff immediately. But look at me now! (I'm gettin paper... xD) I'm doing great. You don't need any more items, if you need supplies, mining world works wonders. (Just don't build a house xD)

    I think that if u are a noob you could at least give them stuff to continue trying that's all
    But if it is too hard people would not want to continue playing
    Maybe add a tutorial for noobs?

    I didn't go mining. I sold my starter items to another starter for the (50 is it?) starter dei money he had, and used that money to merchent until I got to 10k. I then bought 9 plots and built a huge house which is up in great constructions thread.

    But yea, to each his own.

    How about adding invulnerablility for half an hour?
    So that noobs won't die so easily
    I was playing with a new guy a few days back and he did not even know how to jump
    He walked into water and drowned

    I wouldn't have been disappointed with some more food upon starting. My first few trips to the mining world were spent scrabbling to kill cows until I got a house in town and could grow melons.

    It's not the server's responsibility to teach new users how to play Minecraft.

    There is single player, minecraft wiki, the (tutorial-like) achievements in game... Really. It's *not* the responsibility of the server.

    It would be useful too add abit more food since I always nearly die going to the mining world but when you get used to it it's alright to survive easily :)

    i don't think the server needs or should provide you with anything when your starting out. its the thrill of knowing at any time you might die make it so much more fun
