I'm not saying that the mods or staffs are doing a terrible job or anything, in fact I think they do a good job.

BUT obviously most of the staffs have gone MIA or inactive, so it puts more pressure on the active ones.
Since these inactive mods don't even show up, what is the purpose of them even being around, it just shows that they don't have any interest in the server at the moment, which is likely to discourage others from playing here more.

I personally think that "Trial Mods" would be beneficial to the server and the community.
I was thinking if we could get Deity and the current staffs to personally pick TRUSTED and DEDICATED players to become "trial mods".
I'm talking about the ones that's been here for a while, respected by many, have a positive vibe/attitude, and is friendly with new people.

Their duties could be to monitor chat and help out with chat positively (I know the current mods already do this, but I've seen a lot of complaints about how rudely they reply and such) , review submitted creative plots (I know Barry is currently doing this, but the more the merrier), and even view tickets.

This is just me throwing ideas into a page, please criticize or add more to your liking.

We actually used to have something like this way back when. I think some of the last mods of this type were Ratmasterwash, Shoe1, and Stiah. Can't remember any more, sadly. They were marked with the &3[+] in front of their name, and they had partial power to that of a mod, but the position wasn't guaranteed. Last I saw of those was in 2011 or 2012 though. Sub mods or something of the sort. Not sure why it was done away with in the first place.

I just want to pop in and say that I haven't lost interest in the server. The main point that I'm not around is that I've been travelling and studying in a foreign country.
I am busy with projects and other kinds of stuff, which causes me to have no time to play Minecraft at all. Also, my laptop dislikes Minecraft D:

About the trial mods, we've had those, as Qazz said. Though, in my opinion, they're not needed at the moment.
Yes, I know the staff might be inactive at times, but the server population is as well.
I'm in quite the hurry, but I just wanted to pop this out there. I might reply another time when I have more time :)

The server population is growing again, though. We've had more people per day these last few months than I think we've had (or that I've seen) for the past several months before this "boom" happened. In any case, I don't think it can do harm to have more moderators, I guess it all just depends on who.

Lets just say hypothetically some were chosen, how long would it be before they get bored, and they want to go back to just playing the game, maybe thats why so many mods do eventually either lose interest or become busy, Minecraft 24/7 is unsustainable for anyone, and i think if you are dealing with issues, it can get tiresome.
More likely that mods who have to do a lot here will eventually find other places to blow off steam.

I just think people have more chance of playing long term if the less responsibility they have. Speaking from my own experiences on that, plus Seph made a profile post relating to his days pre mod, and it kind of sounds like he misses that, so go figure?

That changes nothing in regards to what the server needs though. If you think the server needs more mods then sure whatever you want. I don't have an opinion.

I genuinely thought someone was advertising the server again on the down low...... plus we are getting people from streamers joining too. Just being online at the weekend there was a steady flow of people for me to meet and greet at the gates.

    Hey all,

I made about five attempts to respond before I decided to just keep it (relatively) short and sweet.

I would love to see inactive staff become active again, much the same way as I would love to see inactive players become active again. It may be as you say, that active staff make players more active, but I tend to believe it's the other way around, with active players bringing a need for active staff.

As for Trial Mods, I don't think we need more people moderating players. It would be seen as being disproportionate to the current amount of players and staff positions are pretty much filled as they are needed. As well as the fact that the current workload for staff is quite low, regarding general duties such as tickets etc.
We already have people that do that, and they have been noticed. Keep up the good work! Slapping a 'Trial Mod' tag on them changes nothing really and there's nothing stopping other people from helping out with chat in a positive manner. More people helping newbies? Sure, yes please, awesome!
It was more in relation to missing when I first became a Mod and I was relatively unknown before then, at least outside of my town. When I go back through my status updates, I had a lot more positive interactions with players, and that's pretty much what I miss. Something for me to once again aim for.

    Many thanks,
    Seph

It is true we don't have as many players as we used to, and therefore need less moderators, but I do think we need more than the active three we have now. The three I mainly see are you (Sephronia), Vershye, and Driver. Personally, I don't think it could hurt to have two more people to help moderate for two reasons - 1) To help out, and 2) to offer a new perspective/add variety. You say you have less positive interactions. I believe that's because you are the most active and involved moderator. So in the interest of helping you out, the only options would be for you to let a few things past (Bad option), or to lessen your workload by allowing others to handle some situations. Less moderation (enacted by you) the less stress you have. The less stress you have, the happier you become. The happier you become, the more involved you become as a player again.

Addressing that adding a "Trial Mod" tag on those people would do nothing - that's not true. Slap "Trial Mod" on me ("The day the server dies" - Everyone) and it would be nothing short of a transformation. I no longer only have myself to think of, but rather how the server is viewed as a whole. A moderator, no matter how much power they are granted, represents the server - especially to new players. But most people are not me... Most people already act "normally" if you would. So if they do not share my "plight" on any level, they will at least be more active, and have purpose to respond to other player's queries and to enforce chat infractions. There is no reward for being nice in chat as a player - no incentive. Being given the status of moderator, although you may no longer view it as privilege (I'm sorry if I'm wrong on this, that is just how I believe you feel), is something that is very sought after by others on this server. It is still some player's goals to become one, and I do believe there are some players our there that could do a marvelous job - they're at least worth a shot.

I have made my return and am enjoying myself here currently, I always thought when Deity comes online everyone buzzes and wants to play more. I mean it's his name on the door so it's always motivating when he interacts with us, haven't spoken to him myself in some time and I miss that

Edited by a mod, what did i do wrong? i sent that on my tablet and i have trouble with it sometimes. xD

Nothing, just the quote was broken so I fixed it for ya. :) - Versh
