Mods Vs. Players

To whom this may concern,
Lately on Deity, there has been lots of hate, drama, and negative things said. On a recent thread named, "Come on now.." the author voiced his opinions about Imdeity. One of the points were problems that he had with the Mods. Often, I've been feeling as if the server was split between people who sided with the Mods and people who do not. Imdeity from the start was a server with great intentions to bring players together and enjoy a game made for the imagination. For the people who are against Mods, they are just trying to fulfill their duties to keep the server a friendly environment. Yes, maybe the way they say "no" isn't the best of ways to handle a problem, but they are trying.
Most players respect the Mods, but in a way players do not earn the same respect given. I have talked to few players who feel the same about this accusation. I'm sure the Mods have great intentions to keep the server happy out of the love they share for the server just as much as the players and Deity himself. But, maybe an opinion by a player every now and then is a good thing that Mods should take into consideration, because when one person speaks out they speak not only for them but others as well. A Mod "shooting down" a player's opinion isn't just shooting down one opinion its shooting down like 5 others.
All I ask from the Mods is to consider the players opinions as a good thing, depending on the subject. All I ask from the players is to consider that Mods have their mind in the right direction. It shouldn't have to be Mods vs. players.

strange question, but why make a thread and further the drama when the one you are talking about hasnt really gotten any activity today and things seem to be dying down slightly?

 

Strange Question, but Why ask this when we know that everything will just continue. It wont change, We all know this.

 

The point in making this thread was to bring somewhat of an ending to it. It shouldn't have to be a split server between Mods and Players.

 

My opinion is... Let me put this in the wise words of Taylor Swift.... "The players are gonna play, play, play and the mods are gonna mod,mod mod " thank you.

things like this have been going on for ages though, one person kinda involved in it making a thread to end it isnt going to make it end, heck people who dont like the mods (vocally) leaving isnt going to make it end. Anything that happens if just going to laid to rest until someone else (new or old to the server) says something and it starts all over again making the entire server tense as heck for a few days, then it dies off blah blah blah circle of stupid goes round and round until the server fully dies. It wont stop, no use in pretending it will as long as people have opinions.

 

I was simply voicing my opinions on this matter and also the players opinions who stand with me on this subject. It's a discussion where I would like to know what other people think. Your opinion ]is as valued as everyone else's.

 

There is nothing different about the recent drama, this stuff is going on all the time. It's just the good players actually behave themselves and will listen to the mods, while the bad players don't and they complain about being disrespected. If anyone has a problem with a mod, chances are they weren't listening to them or breaking a rule. That's how it's been and how it will always be.

fiver summed it up pretty well. things don't really change around here, and not everyone (myself included) is always content with that, threads are made, viewpoints are posted, then the cycle starts again in a few months

Respect is such a tricky subject... What's disrespectful to some is allowed by others without a blink of the eye. A challenge I may pose may seem as an attack on the person of one moderator or simply a question I want answered to another. To a testy person like me who doesn't like being told what to do without a very precise and logical reason, it's very easy to butt heads with like-minded moderators who do not want to be challenged, even in private.

For example, I get along with Driver but not Seph. And Seph, although I recently made my feeling about him very clear, still has my respect in a different way than Driver does. I respect Driver as a person and a moderator because I like who he is and I know he's fair. Seph I feel 80/20 (good/bad) about some of his decisions, and therefore I lose faith in him as a moderator. Now if I tell him I don't agree with him and we have a little quarrel where emotions are involved, I lose respect for his person and his moderation. But it doesn't mean I've entirely lost my respect for him.

Respect is earned. It is not a given.
