    Okay, I feel the shops are rather small. I think the plot of land given to shop owners can be bigger so that the shops actually look like shops instead of just boxes stuffed with chests. If you made the plot of land bigger people could create more creative shops that reflect what they/their shop are about. Although people may argue that people would use the bigger land to stuff more chests inside, moderators could check on the shops to ensure that they are using the space wisely. This will additionally attract more players to the server because it is unique and no other server includes it. Also, shops should be more easily available. Thanks for reading. :)

    I do agree that the shops could do with some improvement, they appear to be nothing but stalls color coded to the malls they belong to. For a server that prides itself on its degree of architecture and dedication to beautiful towns, it could use an overhaul of shop appearances. As for shops being somewhat more available for the new players that come to the server, I don't believe any changes should be made to the ranking system for the players of the server. You should work toward and earn the rank required to be a shop owner. As it is, the amount of shops on the server is balanced, I believe, with the amount of active players. Should that number increase, I would be all for opening another mall, but as it is now, I think the way the availability of the shops is set currently is just fine. :)

    My two cents.

    Honestly I'm not a merchant so I can't speak for the way things go on getting the shops, but as an architecture student I can comment on the designs! they are still technically market stalls, and as such they fit the image very nicely! Of course the different colors could have different types to them to spice it up (low level stalls still stalls, middle being one of those places that's half outside half inside, highest ones being like a department store or something of the sorts)

    I think I could live with that fiver. People with the stalls that get the most service should show the difference, should show that they are more popular, are more active, are more frequent with their customers.

    I think too many shop owners don't stay in touch, don't frequent their shops as much as they should. I think shop owners should be dedicated to /main and make sure their shops stay stocked with very few reminders to re-stock their stalls.

    I don't think they are too big, i think they are the perfect size or could be smaller. Merchants should not be able to offer all items in one shop. Having small shops forces them to offer different goods at different prices and having everything in one shop would mean that many people would go to the same shop which will make one merchant rich and the others poorer.

    I agree that shops should be more available, in one way. I still think the Merchant Rank II should be needed to earn it, but I'm curious how many shops are actually needed. I'm thinking that one branch of the mall should be closed to increase competition. With the number of empty shops that exist, the value of a shop has plummeted. More auctions would just prove the point of there are too many shops. I think that instead of BIG AUCTIONS just have automated smaller ones every month/few months.
    Also, were there a way to limit the number of chests in a shop, that would be my personal preference.

    I have said myself that i would love each shop to be more customizable in its appearance instead of a homogenized and generic look, but at the end of the day, it really wouldnt change a lot, just make it a bit more fun and unique.

    I have also suggested that for the busier merchants, they could possibly get a larger shop plot, but to balance things out, larger shops would pay a higher rate of tax, doesnt have to be much, but it would represent real life business rates, a small shop in a high street would have to pay less rent than a larger shop etc.
    So in effect the busiest merchants could have a large shop with larger stocks and more variety of items for sale, but they would have to pay a little extra to keep it, that would keep things competitive in my opinion, meaning smaller shops could sell things slightly cheaper maybe, but wouldnt have the large stocks.

    Just a thought xD

    As long as you can sell a single double chest of cakes in one shop - I don't care how small they are.

    Based on the opinions I have seen, I think that shops should be more creative, but should not be any bigger. That way people would have more freedom to make their shops creative and more distinctive, but not over-sell and put other people essentially out of business. Also, I think Gillster was saying the shops themselves should be bigger for this reason, not to be bigger for selling more items. Just give people more room to build up their stall.

    So, being a mall shop owner myself, I thought I should put forward my opinion.

    Lower Class required to get a shop- Right now, the current policy I feel is perfect, as you have to earn your shop, like towns, so you cant just make a town on your first day (unless you donate, rich would be rare for a brand new player anyway).

    Shop space- This is very debateable. I have to agree on Heinz's quote, saying larger shops = more tax, which is reality and fair, if you are going to get an 'advantage' in shop size. Currently, I feel some shops are too cluttered, making me only go into them if at absolute requirement. It feels to congested and busy, making me feel 'uncomfortable' in that shop.

    Shop design- I actually quite like the idea of shops looking like proper shops, with windows and doors. However, that's currently not possible as size restrictions in shops would make it very hard to find space to sell items. ( Therefore less money would most likely come in as profit, due to the reduced number of chests in that store).

    Many Thanks,

    HaydoJ- Red 11

    I cannot agree more. The shops to me look like something from a carnival.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I agree with HaydoJ when he talks about the shop space... It is definitely way too congested and it makes it harder for me to find items I need to buy. This is why I think we could limit the amount of chests (Items to sell) yet make the space bigger to allow more creativity into the shops. This would make the server TONS more enjoyable because you have the ability to customize something of your own.
    Maybe a limit of 30 chests and a 15 by 15 store?
    For those wanting to limit the amount of chests/signs in a shop, I've looked in multiple places and the plugin doesn't look to support that. Unfortunately, since this isn't a plugin written by deity, we can't add that functionality. So you'll have to suggest it to the plugin's dev and see if they will add it in.
    It doesn't necessarily require a plugin. Although it would be less convenient, people could simply report if a shop had too many chests or staff could check on them. And I like your suggestion for shop size, Tallpines.
    Only the admins can edit the malls, so I can guarantee they won't be taking care of removing 'extra chests' manually.
    As for the set amount of chests and can only edit what's in them. The only way to do that without the plugin is to shrink the region the shop owner can build in b/c they still need perms to make the signs. That won't happen b/c it will force the shops to all have identical chest setups and no way to change the design.
